About the Principal
You will be supporting a San Francisco-based immigration attorney, federal litigator, law school director, and university lecturer whose work spans multiple high-stakes professional environments simultaneously.

His current roles include:

Director & Staff Attorney at a newly established federal immigration litigation clinic filing habeas corpus petitions in U.S. District Courts, supervising law students, mentoring pro bono practitioners, and fundraising.
Founding Attorney of a premier San Francisco immigration law firm handling complex cases including asylum, removal defense, business and investor visas, family-based immigration, and federal habeas corpus petitions, with a multilingual staff and an outstanding client reputation.
University Lecturer teaching advanced legal research and writing to graduate law students.
ESL Instructor teaching literacy-level students, many of whom are immigrants and refugees.

This is not a routine administrative role. You will be supporting a principal whose daily work involves federal court deadlines, law student supervision, client emergencies, grant writing, academic course management, and community outreach — often all in the same week. The right candidate will take ownership of key administrative and operational systems so the principal can stay focused on high-level legal, academic, and strategic work.

Key Responsibilities
1. Executive Calendar & Communications

Own and manage a complex, multi-context calendar spanning court deadlines, academic commitments, client meetings, and community engagements
Triage incoming communications by urgency and context; draft professional correspondence on behalf of the principal
Proactively flag scheduling conflicts, deadline overlaps, and risks before they arise

2. Legal Clinic & Academic Administration

Track litigation docket deadlines, court filing windows, and student clinic milestones
Assist with logistics for conferences, CLE events, and practitioner training sessions
Support grant research and reporting: tracking deadlines and organizing submission materials
Coordinate between the principal, faculty colleagues, clinic students, and pro bono practitioners

3. Law Firm Operations

Liaise with the firm's internal team to ensure smooth daily operations
Support client intake workflows: organizing forms, tracking missing documents, and following up
Assist with digital marketing: maintain content calendars, coordinate post scheduling, and track engagement across social media platforms
Help maintain organized digital case file systems across firm platforms

4. Academic Course Support

Organize and upload course materials including syllabi, rubrics, and lesson plans across learning management platforms
Manage student communications, deadlines, and logistical updates with sensitivity to multilingual populations

5. Research & Special Projects

Conduct preliminary research on assigned topics and prepare concise briefing summaries
Support community-facing writing projects including articles and public-facing content
Adapt flexibly to shifting priorities as needed

Required Qualifications

3+ years of experience as an Executive Assistant, Operations Manager, or Project Manager — ideally supporting a principal with multiple concurrent professional roles
Exceptional written and spoken English with the ability to draft polished professional communications
Tech proficiency across Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, project management tools (Asana/ClickUp/Notion), and AI productivity tools; legal practice management software experience is a plus
Strong organizational instincts — comfort managing competing deadlines across entirely different professional contexts
Reliable overlap with US Pacific Time during core working hours

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience supporting attorneys, law firms, or academic institutions
Familiarity with immigration law workflows or federal court processes
Experience working with or teaching ESL/multilingual populations

What You'll Gain

Exposure to federal immigration litigation, legal clinical education, and law firm operations at a high level
A mission-driven environment serving immigrant communities
100% remote flexibility from anywhere in the world
Competitive part-time compensation commensurate with experience
