About Us
We're a US-based strategy consultancy. We work with companies on positioning and market strategy, and we also run a paid membership community for professionals in our field. Both are extensions of our founder, which means this role sits close to the center of how the business actually runs, not on its periphery.
A note on discretion: we've kept our company and founder details out of this post on purpose. Our founder has a public profile, and we'd rather run a quiet search than a public one. We'll share who we are in full at the interview stage, and you'll be talking to real people on video well before any commitment is asked of you. Discretion is a core part of this job, so we're starting as we mean to go on.
The Role
We're hiring a strategic partner and right hand to the founder: someone who becomes an extension of how they think, operate, and show up in the world. This isn't a role defined by a fixed task list. It's defined by a standing relationship. You'll be trusted with the judgment calls, instructions, the things that need to happen without being asked twice, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks, and the follow-through that makes their time and attention go further.
Concretely, that means you'll move fluidly across four kinds of responsibility: protecting their time and attention, running the operational backbone of the business, representing their voice externally, and acting as an early-warning system for anything that needs their judgment before it becomes a problem.
The specific tasks will shift week to week. What won't shift is the level of trust, ownership, and proximity to the founder that the role carries.
The Kinds of Responsibility You'll Carry
- Guardian of their time and focus. You'll own the calendar and inbox not as scheduling mechanics, but as an exercise in judgment: knowing what deserves their attention, what can be handled without them, and what needs to be reframed before it reaches them.
- Operator of the business backbone. Payroll, compliance, contracts, vendor relationships, insurance, and account access all run through you. You're the person who makes sure the business doesn't trip over its own administration.
- Extension of their voice. You'll draft and send communications under their name, coordinate their public presence (content, speaking engagements, newsletter), and represent them accurately and well when they're not in the room.
- Partner in the community they've built. Supporting the parts of the membership community that depend on their personal relationships: speaker relationships and high-value member and prospect conversations.
- Trusted with the personal alongside the professional. A limited but real slice of the role touches personal logistics, in coordination with existing household support.
This is deliberately broad. The person who thrives here won't be looking for a checklist. They'll be looking for a role that grows in scope as trust builds, the same way it did for the person who held this seat before you.
You Might Be a Fit If You...
- Have been the right hand to a founder or executive before, and know that the job is really about judgment, not just execution.
- Can hold financial, legal, and personal responsibility (payroll, compliance, account access) with real accuracy and discretion.
- Write well enough that people can't tell where your draft ends and the founder's voice begins.
- Like building the systems and documentation that make a business less dependent on any one person's memory, including your own.
- Want a role that expands with you, not one that stays the same size for three years.
Required
- 3+ years in a senior Executive Assistant, Chief of Staff, or Operations Manager role supporting a founder or executive. Not general VA work.
- Demonstrated ownership of process-heavy administrative work (e.g., payroll, compliance, or similar systems) with high accuracy.
- Strong written English. You'll be drafting and sending communications under someone else's name and voice.
- Track record of managing multiple concurrent workstreams independently with minimal supervision.
- Discretion with sensitive financial, legal, and personal information.
- Stable internet and a reliable computer.
Strongly Preferred
- Experience with Gusto or a comparable payroll/HR platform, including US multi-state compliance.
- Comfort with content and media tools (Notion, Slack, basic video and social scheduling tools).
- Experience supporting a public-facing founder, creator, or executive with an active media presence.
- Familiarity with vendor and event logistics.
This role is not for
- Anyone currently holding another full-time job. This is a full-time seat.
- Agencies or teams applying on behalf of staff. We're hiring one person.
Working Style
- Highly organized and process-oriented. Able to build and document systems, not just execute tasks.
- Responsive and available for time-sensitive requests, including some evening and weekend flexibility around events and travel.
- Trustworthy with financial and legal responsibility, and comfortable being the last check before something goes out.
Our Hiring Process
1. Written application (below)
2. Preliminary video interview
3. Final video call with the founder
4. Offer, followed by a full handover period with the current EA before he leaves
How to Apply
Send all four of the items below. Applications missing any part won't be reviewed.
1. Start your message with the word PARTNER so we know you read this post properly.
2. Your resume.
3. A short note (200 to 400 words) on a time you operated as someone's right hand: a system, relationship, or judgment call you owned end to end, and how you made it work. Write it yourself, in your own words. We're reading for how you think and how you write, not for polish.
4. A video of yourself, 2 minutes maximum, answering: why this role, and what part of it are you least experienced in? Please don't script or edit it. We'd rather see you talk normally than watch a rehearsed pitch. A phone camera is completely fine.
We review applications as they come in and will reply to everyone who follows the instructions above.
