Job Title: eCommerce Accounting Analyst(part time)
We are a rapidly growing eCommerce company seeking a highly analytical and detail-focused Accounting Analyst to play a key role in our month-end close and financial reporting processes. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced small business environment and has a strong foundation in accounting, data validation, and technical reporting across multiple sales channels.
Key Responsibilities
Month-End Close & Reconciliation:
Take ownership of the month-end close process by reconciling revenue, fees, refunds, and settlements across multiple eCommerce platforms, including Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Shopify, Kohl’s, TikTok Shop, Target Plus, Michaels, Etsy, OTC, and Faire.
Excel & SQL Analysis:
Utilize advanced Excel functions (Pivot Tables, Power Query, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data models) and basic SQL queries to clean, analyze, and audit large data sets for trends, anomalies, or mismatches.
Data Validation & Integration:
Collaborate closely with the internal database team to validate raw data exports and financial reports, ensuring accuracy before importing into QuickBooks Desktop using specialized import tools or templates.
QuickBooks Posting & Reconciliation:
Import validated data into QuickBooks, allocate properly to accounts, and reconcile against previous balances, account summaries, and transaction-level reports.
Documentation & Issue Tracking:
Maintain detailed documentation for recurring discrepancies, resolution steps, data anomalies, and improvements to workflows for internal knowledge sharing and continuity.
Cross-Team Coordination:
Communicate proactively with purchasing, operations, and customer service teams to resolve financial discrepancies and plan ahead for financial cutoffs or reporting deadlines.
Problem Solving with Strategic View:
Identify gaps in current workflows and propose automation or procedural enhancements without losing sight of overall financial objectives and timelines.
Night Shift Availability:
Must be available to work during night hours to support collaboration with global tea
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in an eCommerce, retail, or multi-channel environment involving platform settlements and large transaction volumes.
Technical Skills:
Advanced Excel: Proficiency in Pivot Tables, Power Query, data clean-up and reconciliation workflows
SQL (Basic): Ability to write or modify queries to extract or check data from internal databases
QuickBooks Desktop: Familiarity with posting, importing transactions, and reconciling accounts
Communication & Organizational Skills:
Able to communicate clearly and effectively via Google Chat, Gmail, Google Calendar, and shared spreadsheets
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines
Work Style:
Self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable in a fast-changing, team-oriented, small business environment.
