JOB OVERVIEW

I’m looking for an experienced YouTube Video Editor & Content Specialist for an ongoing part-time role of approximately 12–15 hours per week to start.

I create educational, motivational and personal development content, including interviews, podcast-style conversations and teaching videos.

I have both a substantial existing content library and new content being created regularly.

A major part of this role will be reviewing my existing video catalog and finding opportunities to turn older content into fresh, relevant YouTube videos, Shorts and clips.

This is not just a technical editing position.

I’m looking for someone who understands storytelling, pacing, audience retention, content repurposing and copywriting — someone who can recognize the strongest part of a conversation and turn it into content people actually want to watch.

What You’ll Be Doing
Repurposing My Existing Video Catalog

A major part of your work will be reviewing older interviews, podcast episodes, teaching videos and other long-form content and identifying material that can be given a new life.

I do not want someone who simply reposts old videos.

I want someone who can look at existing content with fresh eyes and identify:

Strong sections that could become new standalone YouTube videos
Older 20–30 minute episodes that could become much stronger 8–15 minute videos
Stories, lessons or teaching moments that can be pulled out and repackaged
Segments that could become YouTube Shorts or Reels
Older videos that need a stronger opening
Opportunities for updated titles and thumbnail concepts
Content that is still relevant and worth bringing back to the audience
Multiple pieces of new content that could be created from one older video

You should be comfortable working through a content library independently and making recommendations about what is worth repurposing.

Editing New Content

You will also edit newly recorded interviews, podcasts and teaching videos.

This may include:

Editing long-form YouTube videos
Removing repetition, unnecessary explanations and slow sections
Tightening the content without losing the message or personality
Identifying the strongest opening or hook
Improving pacing and audience retention
Creating clean, professional edits without making the content feel overproduced
Adding text, graphics, B-roll or visual changes where appropriate
Creating Shorts and other short-form clips
Identifying strong moments that could become separate pieces of content
YouTube Copy & Content Support

Strong written English is important.

You may also help with:

Writing compelling YouTube titles
Writing descriptions
Suggesting thumbnail wording
Identifying searchable topics
Basic YouTube SEO
Repurposing selected content for other social platforms
Helping organize a pipeline of older and new content

I will also occasionally meet with you on Zoom to review videos, explain the audience and direction, and discuss what is working.

The Person I’m Looking For

I need someone who can think beyond:

“Where should I make the cuts?”

I want someone who watches a video and thinks:

Where does this actually get interesting?
Is the introduction too long?
What would make someone want to keep watching?
What can we remove without losing the message?
Is there a better way to open this video?
Could one interview become three or four separate videos?
What section would make the best Short?
Is there a strong story buried halfway through the conversation?
What would make someone click on this topic today?

You should have good judgment and be able to make recommendations rather than waiting for detailed editing instructions for every video.

I have years of existing content as well as new material being created, so there is potential for the role to grow over time for the right person.
