# YouTube Video Editor – Commentary Channel
We are looking for a skilled **YouTube Video Editor** for **The Uzo Show**, a growing commentary channel covering politics, economics, Chicago, culture, relationships, and trending topics.
Videos are primarily **10–30+ minute talking-head/commentary videos** incorporating source clips, social media posts, articles, headlines, screenshots, statistics, B-roll, memes, and other supporting visuals.
**Initial workload will be approximately 5–10 videos per week**, with the potential for volume to increase as the channel grows.
## Editing Style
Think:
* Anton Daniels
* Oshay Duke Jackson
* MTR
* Brandon Lehman
* Devory Darkins
We want clean, professional, well-paced commentary editing with strong visual storytelling.
You should be capable of advanced editing—motion graphics, animated captions, effects, sound design, memes, creative transitions, etc.—but also have the judgment to know **when to use those tools and when a simple edit is better.**
## What We're Looking For
You should be able to:
* Tighten raw footage by removing mistakes, unnecessary pauses, repetition, dead space, and weak/awkward takes
* Maintain strong pacing throughout long-form videos
* Seamlessly integrate reaction/source clips
* Use punch-ins, B-roll, screenshots, headlines, comments, and statistics effectively
* Add graphics, captions, memes, sound effects, and animations when appropriate
* Handle basic color correction and audio cleanup
* Understand comedic and reaction timing
* Make creative editing decisions without needing instructions for every cut
**Editorial judgment is extremely important.** We want an editor who can recognize opportunities to make a point, joke, reaction, or argument hit harder visually.
Strong English comprehension and familiarity with American culture, politics, social media, and YouTube commentary are preferred.
Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or similar professional software is acceptable. After Effects experience is a plus.
## To Apply
Please send:
1. A short introduction
2. Your editing software
3. **3 examples of your best long-form YouTube/commentary work**
4. **1 example showing your strongest advanced/creative editing skills**
5. Which example is closest to the style we're looking for and why
6. How long you would expect to spend editing a polished 20-minute video from 45–60 minutes of raw footage
7. Briefly describe a project where you made creative/editorial decisions yourself
Start your application with **“UZO SHOW”** so I know you read the full post.
We are looking for someone interested in a **consistent, long-term role** who can help us develop a recognizable editing style as the channel grows.
