YouTube Aviation Video Editor + 3D Animator — Long-Term
We are looking for a talented YouTube Video Editor with 3D animation experience to join our aviation channel long-term.
You will be responsible for editing one 10–12 minute aviation video per week, combining high-quality traditional YouTube editing with selective 3D animation and visualization.
IMPORTANT: This is NOT a full 3D animation role.
Most of each video should use a combination of:
* Relevant aviation footage
* Archive/historical footage when appropriate
* Images
* Maps
* Motion graphics
* Diagrams
* Text/labels
* Other visuals that accurately support the narration
3D should be used strategically when it improves the storytelling, explains something visually, or shows something that would be difficult to demonstrate with normal footage.
For example, 3D could be used to visualize:
* Aircraft movements or maneuvers
* Flight paths
* Aircraft components and systems
* Engineering or technical concepts
* Scale comparisons
* Interior/exterior aircraft structures
* Scenes where suitable real-world footage is unavailable
We want someone who understands when 3D adds value and when regular footage is the better choice.

JOB DETAILS
Niche: Aviation
Video Length: 10–12 minutes
Frequency: 1 video per week
Turnaround: Maximum 7 days per video
Position: Long-term, ideally 1+ year
Provided by Us: Completed script + voiceover
We are building this channel for the long term and would like to find an editor who can grow with us and help develop a recognizable visual style.
⸻
WHAT WE CARE ABOUT MOST
1. Visual Accuracy
The visuals should closely match what is being discussed.
If the script mentions a specific aircraft, aircraft variant, component, airline, airport, event, location, or historical time period, the footage should accurately represent it.
Do not use random aviation footage simply because it looks good.
Attention to detail is extremely important in this niche.
2. Viewer Retention & Storytelling
We want videos that feel polished and engaging without becoming overly edited.
Use pacing, visual changes, camera movement, graphics, music, sound design, and 3D sequences to keep the viewer interested throughout the video.
The editing should support the story rather than distract from it.
3. Strategic 3D Animation
You should be comfortable creating short, clean 3D sequences when needed.
You may use:
* Blender
* Cinema 4D
* Unreal Engine
* After Effects with 3D tools
* Or equivalent professional software
We are not expecting the entire 10–12 minute video to be animated in 3D.
4. Copyright-Safe Sourcing
You MUST understand how to avoid copyright issues when sourcing footage, images, music, and audio.
You should know how to properly use licensed, royalty-free, public-domain, Creative Commons, or otherwise legally usable assets when appropriate.
We do not want videos built around simply downloading copyrighted clips from other YouTube channels.
⸻
EDITING EXPECTATIONS
Each completed video should include:
* Accurate footage that matches the script
* Short 3D sequences where appropriate
* Clean pacing and storytelling
* Background music appropriate to the tone
* Sound effects when they improve the scene
* Maps, diagrams, or graphics when useful
* Consistent fonts, colors, and visual branding
* Clean transitions
* Subtle zooms and camera movements
* Labels/text when needed for explanation
* Professional audio balancing
* A finished video ready to upload to YouTube
We are not looking for excessive transitions, constant flashy effects, or over-editing.
The priority is:
Storytelling → Accuracy → Retention → Visual Quality
⸻
STYLE
We will provide reference channels/videos showing the overall quality and pacing we are looking for.
The goal is not to copy another channel exactly.
We want to build our own recognizable aviation editing style while taking inspiration from high-quality aviation documentary/explainer content.
⸻
REQUIREMENTS
You should have:
* Strong YouTube editing experience
* 3D animation experience
* Experience with Blender, Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine, or similar software
* Ability to create realistic and clean aviation-related 3D sequences
* Strong understanding of YouTube pacing and viewer retention
* Ability to source relevant, high-quality footage and images
* Strong attention to visual accuracy
* Good music and sound-design instincts
* Experience editing faceless YouTube content is preferred
* Strong English comprehension so visuals accurately match the script
* Reliable communication
* Ability to consistently meet weekly deadlines
* Willingness to make reasonable revisions when necessary
If you are a great traditional editor but cannot create 3D animation, this position is probably not the right fit.
⸻
WEEKLY WORKFLOW
Each week we will provide you with:
1. Script
2. Voiceover
3. Any additional direction or references
You will then:
1. Review the script and voiceover
2. Source accurate footage and visual assets
3. Plan where 3D animation would improve the video
4. Edit the complete 10–12 minute video
5. Add music, graphics, sound effects, and 3D sequences
6. Deliver the completed video within 7 days
7. Complete reasonable revisions if necessary
⸻
COMPENSATION
Please submit your price PER COMPLETED 10–12 MINUTE VIDEO.
Do not submit an hourly price unless you also clearly tell us what you would charge for one finished 10–12 minute video.
There is potential for consistent weekly work and a long-term relationship of 1+ year if the quality
