Hi,
We're looking for a YouTube thumbnail designer to join our youtube automation team who understands that beautiful is not always effective.
What we actually care about:
You need to understand the psychology behind why people click. This means:
- Understanding negativity bias, curiosity gaps, and visual/verbal triggers for the specific target audience
- Knowing what makes someone stop scrolling and click
- Being able to create a thumbnail that WORKS, not just "looks good"
What the work looks like:
We run multiple faceless YouTube channels across different niches (history, nostalgia, vehicles, lifestyle and more). You'll be designing thumbnails across several niches at once — not just one channel. We'll brief you on each niche's target audience and provide reference thumbnails. Turnaround is 1 thumbnail per video, delivered 1 day before the scheduled upload.
What you need to know:
Technical Skills:
AI tools (Nano Banana 2, Seedream, etc) - you should know how to use AI to your advantage. We won’t care if your thumbnail is AI generated/half AI generated as long as it works. Access to these paid AI tools will be provided to you
Photoshop (or any other editing software you're comfortable working with) - solid editing skills to refine and composite AI-generated elements (for example add text)
Visual composition - understanding spacing, hierarchy, color psychology, and what actually draws the eye
The Right Mindset:
- You're okay with "simple" thumbnails if they perform better
- You study what works on YouTube, not just what looks pretty
- You can articulate your design decisions based on click-through psychology
- You're data-driven and willing to test different approaches
When you apply please send your portfolio of thumbnails you've created.
Also, expect to complete a small sample task after you apply.
We're not looking for a traditional graphic designer. We're looking for someone who gets the game.
