JOB OVERVIEW

About Us:

My name is Reece, and we’re expanding our network of YouTube channels across history-focused niches, using storytelling and long-form videos.

We’re building a portfolio of high-performing YouTube channels designed to reach millions of viewers globally, and we’re looking for a Thumbnail Designer who understands clicks (not just design)

Your work will directly impact whether a video gets ignored… or gets 100K–1M+ views. Thumbnails are one of the biggest drivers of that growth.

This isn’t a one-off project. There’s long-term upside as we expand into more channels.

The Opportunity:

This is not a typical design role. You’ll be responsible for creating thumbnails that:
- Stop the scroll
- Create curiosity instantly
- Drive high click-through rates (CTR)

You’ll work on content designed to:
- Hit 100K–1M+ views
- Compete with fast-growing history channels
- Stand out in highly competitive feeds

You won’t just design. You’ll help shape:
- The visual style of the channel
- What makes someone click vs scroll past

Style We’re Targeting:
- ----------
- ----------
- ----------

Your job is to replicate and adapt this high-performing style, while maintaining consistency across our channel.

What You'll Do:
- Take base artwork/images and optimise for maximum clicks
- Add bold, eye-catching text overlays
- Create strong contrast, depth, and visual hierarchy
- Ensure thumbnails are optimised for mobile viewing
- Create variations when needed for testing
- Use of AI tools is welcomed and encouraged

Performance Standard:
- The reference channels average 200K–1.5M views per video.

Your thumbnails should match that:
- Clear
- Curiosity-driven
- Viral, aggressive, and impossible to ignore
- Optimised based on performance (not just how it looks)

Upsides:
- You’ll learn how high-performing thumbnails are actually created
- Long-term, consistent work as we scale multiple channels
- Clear direction and reference styles
- Fast feedback loops (you’ll improve quickly)
- Opportunity to grow into a Lead Designer role
- Work on content designed to scale globally

Position Details:
- 30–60 thumbnails per month
- Ongoing work for the right, reliable person
- Turnaround time: 24–48 hours per thumbnail
- Budget: $5 per thumbnail
- Consistent monthly volume
- Long-term opportunity based on performance

Ideal Candidate:
- Understands YouTube CTR psychology
- Strong Photoshop/design skills (AI tools are a plus)
- Can replicate and adapt proven thumbnail styles
- Takes direction well and iterates quickly
- Consistent, reliable, and detail-oriented

How to Apply:
- Send your portfolio of YouTube thumbnails (history niche style preferred)
- Include before/after examples showing your optimisation work
- Confirm that you can match the viral style shown in the references
- Share your typical turnaround time
- Start your message with your favourite animal
