Wordpress Designer/Developer - Part Time

INTRODUCTION

We are looking for a senior WordPress designer and developer who can operate independently and take ownership of live production websites with minimal guidance.

This is not a support role and not a task-by-task position. You are expected to identify issues on your own, make correct design, development, and technical SEO decisions, and keep websites clean, consistent, and performing without needing step-by-step instructions.

You will work primarily with a Filipino-based team, so strong, clear English communication is required. You must be able to articulate decisions, explain issues, and collaborate efficiently. Initiative is non-negotiable.

If you need constant direction, detailed SOPs, or approval for obvious fixes, this role is not a fit.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
-- Senior WordPress designer and developer with strong independent judgment
-- 7+ years of professional WordPress experience (10+ preferred)
-- Proven experience owning live production websites end to end
-- Strong written and spoken English
-- Comfortable articulating technical and design decisions clearly
-- Takes initiative and acts without waiting to be told
-- Comfortable working primarily with a Filipino team while communicating clearly with leadership
-- Disciplined with ClickUp and Hubstaff without supervision

RATE AND SCHEDULE
-- Rate: $14-16 USD per hour (based on autonomy and execution quality)
-- Hours: Approximately 15 to 20 hours per week
-- Part-time, ongoing role
-- Schedule flexible; Philippine time is acceptable

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
-- Independently manage ongoing WordPress website updates
-- Make design and layout decisions that maintain site-wide consistency
-- Publish, format, and QA content without supervision
-- Maintain and update themes, plugins, and site configurations
-- Proactively identify and resolve layout, performance, and technical issues
-- Use SEMrush to identify and fix technical SEO issues (404s, duplicate titles, missing tags, broken links, indexing issues, etc.)
-- Implement on-page SEO updates provided by the on-page SEO team accurately
-- Ensure websites remain fast, clean, stable, and visually consistent
-- Flag larger structural issues with clear recommendations, not open-ended questions
-- Track work accurately in ClickUp and Hubstaff

OWNERSHIP EXPECTATIONS
-- You are responsible for the quality, consistency, and health of assigned websites
-- You make execution decisions without waiting for approval
-- You proactively identify problems and fix them
-- You escalate only when a decision materially impacts scope, cost, or brand standards
-- You do not require detailed SOPs to deliver high-quality work

TOOLS YOU WILL USE
-- WordPress (core, themes, plugins)
-- Page builders such as Elementor or similar
-- HTML, CSS, and PHP (working proficiency)
-- SEMrush for technical SEO audits and fixes
-- ClickUp for task management
-- Hubstaff for time tracking
-- Internal on-page SEO guidelines

REQUIREMENTS
-- 7 to 10+ years of WordPress design and development experience
-- Deep understanding of WordPress themes, plugins, and page builders
-- Proven experience maintaining live production websites independently
-- Familiarity with SEMrush and fixing real technical SEO issues
-- Ability to implement on-page SEO instructions from an SEO team accurately
-- Strong design judgment and layout consistency instincts
-- High attention to detail and quality
-- Strong English communication skills
-- Able to work independently with minimal oversight
-- Reliable internet connection
-- Dedicated workstation with an external monitor

MUST HAVE
-- Long-term WordPress ownership experience (not just short-term projects)
-- Web design and development as your primary skill set
-- Experience fixing technical SEO issues identified in SEMrush
-- Ability to explain what you changed and why
-- Strong QA habits across desktop, mobile, and performance
-- Comfortable with strict task and time tracking
