I own two established local service businesses in Jacksonville, Florida: a pest control company and a concrete company.
I am looking for ONE technically strong person who can take ownership of the structure and technical SEO of our WordPress websites.
This is NOT primarily a content-writing position and NOT a basic WordPress VA position. I already have people who can build pages and create content.
THE PROBLEM:
Our pest control website is approximately 10 years old. Different contractors have built and optimized different parts of the website over time.
We now have newer optimized service and location pages that are published, but the old website structure was never properly reorganized.
Examples:
• Old service pages are still linked from menus and other parts of the website
• New optimized pages exist but are difficult to find through normal website navigation
• Old and new pages may target the same search intent
• Internal linking needs to be reorganized
• Some newer pages may be orphaned or poorly integrated
• Old URLs may have years of Google history and backlinks that must be protected
• Navigation and service/location hierarchy needs to make sense
• Redirects, canonicals, indexing and sitemaps need to be reviewed
• We need to determine which pages should be kept, updated, merged, redirected or removed from the website structure
I DO NOT want someone to simply start deleting pages, changing URLs or rebuilding everything.
I need someone who understands how to reorganize an established website WITHOUT destroying existing SEO value.
FIRST PAID PROJECT:
Start with our pest control website.
Analyze the existing website and create a clear URL/page map showing:
CURRENT URL
TARGET/PURPOSE
OLD OR NEW PAGE
CURRENT INDEXING/RANKING STATUS
KEEP
UPDATE
MERGE
301 REDIRECT
NOINDEX
OTHER ACTION
REASON
You should also identify:
• Old and new pages competing for the same keywords
• Orphan or poorly linked pages
• Navigation links still pointing to outdated pages
• Internal-linking problems
• Canonical/indexing problems
• Important URLs with existing rankings, traffic or backlinks that need to be protected
• Sitemap problems
• Opportunities to consolidate old and new content without losing SEO value
Then recommend a logical website hierarchy, navigation structure and internal-linking structure.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT make major changes, delete pages or implement redirects during the initial analysis.
I want to see the proposed architecture and URL map first.
I do not want to spend hours every week telling someone exactly what to do.
I want someone who can investigate a problem independently, identify what is wrong, explain it to me in plain English, recommend the solution, and then implement approved work correctly.
We already use:
• WordPress
• Google Search Console
• Semrush
• SEO optimization tools
If the first project goes well, this can become an ongoing position handling technical website structure and SEO implementation for BOTH businesses.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• WordPress
• Technical SEO
• Website information architecture
• Internal linking
• URL mapping
• 301 redirects
• Canonical tags
• Google Search Console
• XML sitemaps
• Indexation
• Orphan-page identification
• Keyword cannibalization
• Semrush
• Local SEO
• Preserving existing rankings and backlinks during website restructuring
Experience with pest control, contractors, home services or other local service businesses is a plus.
TO APPLY:
Start your application with the words:
OLD URL
If your application does not start with OLD URL, I will assume you did not read the job description.
Then answer these questions:
1. Tell me about an established WordPress website you personally reorganized or cleaned up without unnecessarily losing existing rankings.
2. How do you d
