JOB OVERVIEW

WordPress Designer (with Front-End Dev Skills) — 30-Hour Project + Ongoing Work

We’re hiring a WordPress designer with strong visual instincts and front-end development capabilities to help us build scalable, reusable page templates for our site’s cornerstone pages. This is a 30-hour project spread over 3 weeks, with the potential for continued work in AI-driven content publishing and business inclusion research for the right candidate.

The site is new, but it’s owned by marketing agency professionals who’ve built and optimized many WordPress sites before. We know what good looks like—and we’re looking for someone who can help us build a clean, flexible visual system that scales.

We’re looking for someone who can bring visual clarity, scalability, and front-end finesse to our cornerstone pages—and potentially grow with us into broader content and research roles. If that’s you, let’s talk.

Project Scope

This is a design-first role, but front-end development skills are a major advantage. You’ll be working on a WordPress site built with:
- Astra Theme
- Spectra (formerly Ultimate Addons for Gutenberg)
- Advanced Custom Fields (ACF)

Your tasks will include:
- Creating reusable page templates for cornerstone content that can be replicated across the site
- Optimizing imagery for performance and responsiveness
- Grouping templates for streamlined content management
- Implementing front-end best practices for speed, UX, and maintainability

Time Commitment
- Total project time: 30 hours
- Pacing: ~10 hours/week (1–2 hours/day)
- Schedule: Flexible days and times

Requirements
- Strong WordPress design experience (not just development)
- Portfolio pieces that show visual design work using Astra, Spectra, and ACF
- Ability to implement front-end changes (HTML/CSS/JS) as needed
- Understanding of responsive design and performance optimization
- Ability to work independently with minimal instruction and proactively find solutions
- Clear communication and ability to work autonomously

Experience with Astra, Spectra, and ACF is highly preferable. Candidates who can speak to and show their work with these tools will be prioritized.

Bonus Skills
- Experience with SEO is a plus (not essential)
- Familiarity with Google Search Console (GSC) and Ahrefs—please outline your experience
