INTRO:
We have a live e-commerce website for a US health and wellness brand. It was built quickly using AI tools and it works, but it has never been properly audited, optimized or tuned for conversion. We want someone to go through it end to end, tell us what's wrong, and then fix it.
This starts as a paid fixed-scope project of roughly 4-6 weeks. If it goes well, and we'd like it to, it becomes an ongoing monthly retainer of 10-15 hours per week, working alongside our marketing lead on landing pages and A/B tests. We are looking for a long-term working relationship, not a one-and-done.
ABOUT:
Pep'd is a US-based health and wellness company selling directly to consumers through a telehealth subscription model. Small team, founder-led, fast decisions. You'll work with the founder directly.
Phase 1 - the project
Deliverable 1: Conversion tracking
Audit and fix all conversion tracking: Meta Pixel, Conversions API, GA4 events, any other pixels
Verify that every event fires once, fires accurately, and matches actual purchases
Set up Google Search Console and confirm the site is being indexed correctly
This is the highest priority item. Our ad spend is worthless without it.
Deliverable 2: Written audit
A prioritized document of everything wrong or suboptimal on the site
Each item scored by estimated impact and effort, so we can d
Cover: performance, mobile experience, checkout and funnel friction, broken elements, accessibility, technical SEO
Include Lighthouse / PageSpeed scores as a baseline
Deliverable 3: Performance and mobile
Fix Core Web Vitals: LCP, CLS, INP
Image optimization, lazy loading, bundle size, render-blocking resources
Full mobile responsiveness pass on real devices, not just a browser resize
Target: measurable, documented before/after scores
Deliverable 4: Conversion path
Find and remove friction in the path from landing to purchase
Form validation, error states, loading states, trust signals, clear calls to action
Fix anything broken: dead links, 404s, forms that fail silently, layout breaks
Deliverable 5: Technical SEO foundation
XML sitemap, robots.txt, canonical tags
Title tags and meta descriptions across all pages
Correct heading hierarchy (one H1 per page, logical structure)
Schema markup: Organization, Product, FAQ, Breadcrumb
Fix crawl errors, redirect chains, duplicate content issues
Note: this role covers TECHNICAL SEO only. Keyword research and content writing are handled by our marketing lead.
Deliverable 6: Handover
Short written summary of what changed and why
A prioritized list of what you'd do next if we continue
Phase 2 — the retainer (if we both want it)
Build and ship new landing pages for marketing campaigns
Set up and run A/B tests, report on results
Ongoing maintenance, monitoring and speed upkeep
Implement technical SEO recommendations as the content program grows
10-15 hours per week, paid monthly
Requirements
Strong React / TypeScript. Our site is built on a modern React stack (Lovable-generated codebase). You must be comfortable working with an existing codebase you did not write.
Experience with AI-generated codebases and cleaning them up
Demonstrable CRO experience - you have improved a real site's conversion rate and can show the numbers
Technical SEO experience with hands-on Search Console work
Experience implementing and debugging Meta Pixel, Conversions API and GA4
Comfortable with Git, staging environments and deploying safely
Good written English. The audit document has to be readable by a non-technical founder.
Available for at least 2-3 hours of overlap with US Eastern Time (marketing lead will be on similar time zone to you).
Nice to have
E-commerce or DTC experience
Health, wellness or supplement industry experience
A/B testing tools (PostHog, VWO, Google Optimize alternatives)
