WE'RE HIRING: WEBSITE DESIGNER / ARCHITECT

Full-Time | Remote | Philippines

Spiritus is looking for an exceptional Website Designer/Architect to help design, build, organize, and continually expand our large and rapidly growing website and digital library.

Spiritus is an international Catholic sacred-music organization bringing together music, art, faith, ecology, and cultural heritage.

This is not simply a basic WordPress maintenance position.

Our website will eventually contain thousands of pieces of music, recordings, musical scores, photography, video, artwork, essays, theological commentary, educational materials, and international creative projects.

We need someone who combines outstanding visual design judgment with real website-building ability and who can help architect a sophisticated digital environment capable of handling this level of complexity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design and build sophisticated new website pages and sections
- Develop the overall structure of a growing website and digital library
- Present photography, music, recordings, scores, artwork, video, and written materials beautifully
- Organize large quantities of media and creative content
- Manage audio and video embedding and presentation
- Improve navigation and overall user experience
- Ensure excellent responsive design across desktop and mobile
- Maintain and update existing website content
- Troubleshoot website issues
- Coordinate with specialist developers when advanced technical work is necessary
- Help establish systems that allow the website to scale as Spiritus grows
- Handle basic SEO and web metadata, including titles, descriptions, URLs, alt text, and indexing
- Maintain basic accessibility awareness across website content

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

- Exceptional website portfolio
- Strong visual and design judgment
- Proven ability to personally build the websites you design
- Strong WordPress, Webflow, Elementor, or comparable experience
- Excellent typography, spacing, layout, imagery, and visual hierarchy
- Experience with image-rich and media-heavy websites
- Experience working with audio and video content
- Strong responsive-design skills
- Basic SEO, metadata, and accessibility awareness
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written English
- Independent problem-solving ability
- Reliability and strong follow-through

Experience with arts organizations, museums, galleries, cultural institutions, architecture, music, photography, publishing, or other visually sophisticated organizations is especially valuable.

We are looking substantially beyond a typical website VA or basic developer. Visual quality is essential.
