JOB OVERVIEW

I am looking for a voiceover artist for a nature documentary YouTube channel called Survival Odds. This is long term ongoing work — if the first recording goes well I will continue hiring you for every video going forward.

About The Channel
Survival Odds is a faceless narrated nature documentary channel. Every video answers one specific question about animal behaviour and human survival using real science and documented cases. Videos are 15 to 18 minutes long. We post two videos per week, every Tuesday and Friday.

The Voice I Am Looking For
This is the most important part of this job post — please read it carefully before applying.

I need a voice that sounds like a calm, intelligent person who has just discovered something extraordinary and cannot wait to tell you about it. Not dramatic. Not a radio announcer. Not an audiobook reader. A real human voice with natural warmth, genuine curiosity, and quiet authority.

The tone is calm and measured throughout. The pacing is deliberate — never rushed. Short sentences land with weight and silence. Long sentences flow naturally without feeling like they are being read from a page.

The closest reference for the tone I need is the narration style of BBC nature documentaries — calm, authoritative, and deeply human. Please listen to at least one BBC Earth video on YouTube before applying so you understand exactly what I mean.

A clear, neutral accent that is easy to understand for an international English speaking audience is essential. Light accents are welcome. Please let your voice sample speak for itself — if your narration is clear and natural your accent will not be a barrier.

What You Will Receive Fro ---------- For Every Video

A full narration script broken into numbered sections
Clear pronunciation guides for all scientific and animal names
Tone and pacing notes for each section in blue text
A file naming system — each section has a file name at the top telling you exactly what to save it as

What I Need From You

A voice that sounds genuinely human and natural — not robotic, not over-produced
A high quality microphone and a quiet recording environment with no background noise
Ability to record each script section as a separate audio file using the file names provided
Deliver files as high quality MP3 or WAV — raw recording only, no music, no reverb, no effects added
If you make a mistake mid-recording leave a few seconds of silence and re-read from the start of that paragraph — do not stop and restart the file
Turnaround time of 2 days per script maximum
Responsive communication via WhatsApp
A free Trello account — all projects are managed through Trello so you can see exactly what is in the queue, pick up scripts, and mark work as completed
Able to take direction and re-record specific sections if needed

What I Do Not Want

A voice that sounds like an AI voice or text to speech
Dramatic over-emphasis on words
News anchor delivery
Audiobook performance style
Any added music, reverb, compression, or audio effects
A heavy accent that makes words difficult to understand on first listen

Payment
$30 AUD per video paid via Wise within 24 hours of approved delivery. Payment is made after each recording is reviewed and approved.
