About Praline’s Backyard Foundation

Praline’s Backyard Foundation provides free, safe, temporary housing for the pets of domestic violence survivors, helping remove one of the biggest barriers that keeps survivors from leaving unsafe situations. Our work saves lives — both human and animal.

We are looking for a mission-driven, emotionally intelligent Virtual Assistant who loves social impact, is highly organized, communicates clearly in English, and thrives in a role that blends social media marketing, fundraising, and compassionate client support.

Compensation

$4/hour – 20 hours per week, can increase to 40 if can deliver positive outcomes in fundraising efforts

Commission Structure:

The Foundation receives an average of $3,000/month in donations.

You earn 5% commission on all donations over $3,000.

For example:

If the Foundation receives $5,000 in a month ? You earn 5% of $2,000 = $100 commission

Designed to reward initiative, creativity, and campaign success.

Key Responsibilities
1. Social Media Management & Growth (40%)

Create daily posts for Instagram

Write captions

Repurpose survivor-safe stories into engaging content

Edit short-form video clips

Schedule posts, track analytics, recommend growth strategies

Identify viral content trends within the nonprofit & DV awareness space

2. Donor Engagement & Fundraising (30%)

Assist in fundraising campaigns

Draft emotionally compelling emails and call-to-action posts

Track donations and supporter communications

Prepare donor thank-you messages and monthly reports

Work with the Executive Director to brainstorm ways to increase recurring donations

Contribute ideas that activate community support

3. Survivor Support & Pet Placement Coordination (20%)

Respond to survivor intake forms with empathy and clarity

Assist with gathering pet information, vet records, and placement needs

Coordinate with foster volunteers through email and online platforms

Maintain confidentiality and follow organizational safety protocols

Document cases in an organized system

4. Administrative Support (10%)

Inbox management

Simple data entry

Managing content calendars

Updating donor lists

? Required Skills & Qualifications

Fluent English reading, writing & conversational speaking

Prior experience with social media management, content creation, and basic video editing

Familiarity with Canva, Meta Business Suite, TikTok, and Google Workspace

Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines

Emotionally mature, respectful, and comfortable working in domestic-violence-related content

Highly organized & detail-oriented

Stable internet connection

Preferred (Not Required)

Experience working with nonprofits

Experience in fundraising or donor engagement

Has helped grow another organization’s account or campaign

Has previously worked with survivors, vulnerable populations, or social work-related tasks
