JOB OVERVIEW

Job Type: Part-time, Guaranteed Hours
Hours: 5 guaranteed hours/week to start, with opportunity to grow based on performance and workload
Location: Remote / Home-based
Compensation: $10 USD/hour (5 hrs/week guaranteed = ~$50/week)
Trial Period: 30-day paid trial before transitioning to an ongoing arrangement

About the Role

We're building a small production team to support our marketing operations, and this role is the first hire on that team. You'll start by editing short-form videos for our social channels, freeing up our Marketing Manager to focus on strategy and higher-level creative work.

This is a growth role: as you prove reliable and skilled, your responsibilities and hours will expand into other repeatable production work (Canva templates, recurring content, event graphics, podcast graphics, and more).

We're looking for someone reliable and coachable who wants a long-term working relationship, not a one-off gig.

What You'll Do (To Start)
- Edit short-form videos (~30-120 seconds) in vertical 9:16 format for TikTok, YouTube (Shorts), Instagram (Reels), LinkedIn, and Facebook
- Cut raw footage into clean, engaging edits (trimming, pacing, transitions)
- Add captions/subtitles and text overlays
- Sync music and sound effects when necessary
- Apply trends, hooks, and pacing techniques that perform well on short-form platforms
- Organize and manage raw footage, project files, and final exports in shared folders
- Turn around each video within 72 hours of receiving footage and notes
- Suggest creative ideas for trends, hooks, and formats that fit our brand

Note: Color correction/grading is not required for this role.

What You Could Grow Into

As you build trust and consistency, this role has room to expand into:
- Canva template creation/updates (flyers, posters, social carousels)
- Recurring content support (monthly rate updates, realtor collab graphics, etc.)
- Event launch assistance (updated graphics, template creation)
- Podcast graphics
- Coordinating content shoot email touches with podcast guests and collaborators
- Assisting with editing style experimentation

What We're Looking For
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
- 1+ years of experience editing short-form video for social media (portfolio required)
- Comfortable and proficient in editing video
- No specific software required, but you must have independent access to a video editing program you're skilled in
- Strong sense of pacing, hooks, trends, and what makes short-form content perform
- Able to write or place clean, well-timed captions
- Access to and experience with Canva
- Reliable communicator, comfortable with async feedback and file-sharing tools (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.)
- Able to consistently turn around edits within 72 hours of receiving footage and notes
- Comfortable with a paid trial period and open to ongoing feedback as we build a working rhythm together

Nice to Have
- Familiarity with platform-specific trends and best practices across TikTok, Reels, Shorts, and LinkedIn video
- Basic copywriting skills for captions or on-screen text
- Experience working with US-based marketing teams
- Familiarity with real estate, mortgage, and investing terminology
