JOB OVERVIEW

**Virtual Assistant – Vintage Clothing Listing, Research & Pricing Specialist**

We are BG Vintage, a growing Los Angeles–based vintage clothing business selling across eBay, Depop, Grailed, Poshmark, Vinted, and Facebook Marketplace. We are looking for an experienced, highly independent virtual assistant who can take ownership of our online listing process.

We do not want someone who needs constant instructions or approval for every item. We need someone who can examine an item, research it thoroughly, determine its approximate age, price it intelligently, create an accurate listing, and move on to the next item with confidence.

The ideal person will eventually understand our inventory and standards well enough to manage this part of the business with minimal supervision.

**Main Responsibilities**

* Create accurate, search-optimized listings from the photos and information provided
* Identify the brand, item type, tagged size, color, material, pattern, style, era, and important features
* Estimate an item’s age using tags, manufacturing details, country of origin, RN numbers, care labels, hardware, construction, graphics, and other dating indicators
* Determine whether an item is true vintage, Y2K, or modern
* Research unfamiliar brands, designers, model names, collections, style codes, and potentially valuable items
* Price items independently using relevant sold listings, current market demand, condition, rarity, size, age, desirability, and platform
* Avoid copying unrealistic asking prices from unsold listings
* Recognize when an item deserves additional research before being listed
* Notice stains, holes, fading, distressing, repairs, missing parts, or other condition details visible in the photos
* Cross-list inventory across eBay, Depop, Grailed, Poshmark, Vinted, and other platforms
* Select accurate categories and required item specifics
* Review every listing for accuracy before publishing
* Help monitor sold inventory and prevent sold items from remaining active on other platforms
* Keep listings and inventory organized
* Identify recurring problems and suggest practical ways to improve our listing workflow, pricing, organization, and sales

**Pricing Expectations**

The assistant must be capable of determining an effective selling price without needing approval on every item.

Pricing research should include:

* Recent sold listings whenever available
* Comparable items from the same brand, era, model, or category
* Condition, fading, distressing, graphics, size, and overall desirability
* Current demand and realistic sell-through value
* Differences between platforms
* Whether an item should be priced for a quick sale or held for a stronger buyer
* Whether an item is rare enough that normal comparables do not tell the full story

The goal is not simply to find the highest price online. The goal is to determine a realistic price that protects the value of the item while still giving it a strong chance of selling.

**What We Are Looking For**

* Strong knowledge of vintage clothing, Y2K fashion, streetwear, denim, workwear, designer fashion, footwear, and accessories
* Proven ability to research, date, and price clothing independently
* Familiarity with vintage tags, union labels, RN numbers, manufacturing details, country-of-origin clues, fabric tags, stitching, hardware, and other dating methods
* Experience using eBay sold listings, Google Lens, WorthPoint, Terapeak, Grailed, Depop, or other research tools
* Experience with eBay, Depop, Grailed, Poshmark, Vinted, Crosslist, Vendoo, or similar platforms
* Excellent written English and attention to detail
* Ability to follow detailed listing rules consistently
* Good judgment and problem-solving skills
* Reliable communication and consistent availability
* Willingness to ask questions when something truly cannot be confirmed—but not depend on us for routine research or decisions
* A business-minded attitude and genuine interest in helping the company improve

**Independence and Initiative**

We want someone who takes ownership of their work. Before asking a question, you should make a reasonable effort to research and solve the issue yourself.

We value someone who can:

* Make sound decisions without constant supervision
* Catch mistakes before listings are published
* Recognize valuable or unusual inventory
* Identify opportunities we may have missed
* Suggest better keywords, prices, processes, or tools
* Track repeated issues and help create solutions
* Learn from feedback without needing the same correction repeatedly
* Think about the success of the overall business, not just completing individual tasks

Accuracy still comes first. Being independent does not mean guessing. If something cannot be confirmed after proper research, clearly explain what you found and why you are uncertain.

**Growth Opportunity**

This position will begin with listing, research, pricing, and inventory-related responsibilities. As you demonstrate accuracy, reliability, independence, and the ability to improve the business, we are open to increasing both your responsibilities and your pay.

Our goal is to build a long-term working relationship with someone who can grow alongside BG Vintage. A person who saves us time, increases listing quality, improves pricing, catches valuable inventory, and helps increase sales will have the opportunity to earn more.

**Workload**

We are initially looking for approximately 15 listings per day, with the opportunity for increased hours and responsibilities as the business grows.

**Paid Trial Assignment**

Selected applicants will complete a small paid trial using product photos we provide. The trial will test:

* Item identification
* Age estimation
* Pricing research
* Title and listing quality
* Recognition of condition and valuable details
* Ability to follow instructions
* Independent judgment
* Communication
* Turnaround time

**To Apply**

Please send:

1. A short introduction about yourself
2. Your experience with vintage clothing and online resale
3. The platforms and listing tools you have used
4. An explanation of how you research and price an unfamiliar item
5. An explanation of how you determine whether clothing is vintage, Y2K, or modern
6. Your availability and time zone
7. Your expected starting rate
8. Examples of listings or pricing research you have completed, if available
9. One example of a process or business improvement you suggested in a previous role

Please begin your application with the words **“BG Vintage”** so we know you read the full job description.
