JOB OVERVIEW

READ THIS BEFORE APPLYING

We have hired for this role three times. All three had English degrees. All three caught 70–80% of the mistakes in our videos. That is a fail. In this role, 80% is the same as zero — because whatever you miss, our clients see.

We are looking for the person who catches 100%. If you are not obsessive about detail, and if your English isn't at a true native North American level — not school-level, native-level — do not apply.

WHO WE ARE

KeepUp Media is a Toronto-based marketing agency producing high-volume video content — ads, reels, and testimonials — for premiu ---------- dical clinics (eye surgeons especially) and local service businesses across North America. A team of editors produces content daily. Right now, the founder personally reviews every video before it ships. Your job is to replace him as the final gate.

THE ROLE

Every single video that enters or leaves this agency passes through you. You are the last set of eyes before content reaches a client or gets published. Part quality control, part creative director: you don't just catch mistakes, you know what a stellar edit looks like and you hold every video to that bar.

What you're checking on every video:

CAPTIONS — word-perfect against the audio. Our clients include doctors with many different accents discussing medical procedures (LASIK, EVO ICL, lens implants). You need the ear to catch that "not gonna" should read "going to" in a doctor's video, that a name or procedure is spelled wrong, that a caption dropped a word the speaker clearly said.
READABILITY — caption size, color, contrast, placement, and timing. Captions that look native to the platform, readable on a phone in one pass.
SCRIPT LOGIC — the b-roll matches what's being said. If the doctor is explaining a lens implant and the footage shows a laser machine, that's a miss. If he's talking about scrubbing windows and the clip shows a website screenshot, that's a miss.
EDIT QUALITY — cuts, transitions, pacing, zooms, effects, hook strength, music selection and levels, stabilization on shaky clips, color and skin tones, ad titles bolded and treated as titles (not buried in regular captions).
TECHNICAL — resolution, aspect ratio, frame rate, export quality, no artifacts.

Your output: a clear pass, or timestamped, specific feedback the editor can execute without questions — "0:18 caption says X, audio says Y" — logged in Slack/Asana. You work directly with the founder, our operational assistant, and the editing team.

THE PARAGRAPH BELOW CONTAINS EXACTLY 4 ENGLISH ERRORS. WE PUT THEM THERE ON PURPOSE. FINDING ALL 4 IS PART OF YOUR APPLICATION.

Your the final set of eyes on every video that leaves this agency. Its your job to catch what everyone else missed — the mispelled caption, the cut that lands a beat to late, the b-roll that has nothing to do with the script.

REQUIREMENTS — ALL OF THEM

1. You were a video editor. You know Premiere/CapCut/DaVinci from the inside, you understand pacing, transitions, sound design, and grading — and you can tell the difference between a stellar edit and an acceptable one
2. True native-level North American English: ear and writing. You catch homophones, dropped words, and wrong phrasing through heavy accents
3. A real setup: fast internet (100+ Mbps — speedtest proof required), a computer that plays 4K smoothly, and a quiet dedicated office. You will be watching video all day; "my phone and a coffee shop" disqualifies you
4. Obsessive attention to detail — your standard is 100%, not "most of them"
5. Clear, direct written communication. Your feedback should read like instructions, not opinions
6. Highly responsive on Slack + WhatsApp during North American business hours

WHAT YOU GET

- A defined standard, checklists, and direct training from the founder
- Part-time hourly to start, growing to full-time as volume grows
- Performance bonuses for sustained catch rates
- A crucial, respected seat — the entire agency's quality runs through you

HOW TO APPLY — FOLLOW EXACTLY

Start your application with the words "FINAL EYES" and include:

1. The 4 planted errors from the paragraph above — quote each one and give the correction.
2. Your editing background: years, tools, content types, and links to 2–3 edits you personally made.
3. Your QC process: you receive a 60-second ad for an eye surgeon. Walk us through exactly what you check, in order.
4. A screenshot of your speedtest result, your computer specs, and one photo of your workspace.
5. A 2–3 minute Loom: pick any reel or video ad from any business you like, and give timestamped QC feedback on it as if our editor made it.

Applications missing the code words, the 4 errors, or the Loom get deleted. Shortlisted candidates take a timed QC test: a real video with planted mistakes. We know exactly how many there are. Previous hires found 70–80% of them. The passing score is 100%.

If you're the person who physically cannot scroll past a typo — we built this seat for you.
