JOB OVERVIEW

ABOUT THE CREATOR

We're hiring on behalf of Nicolai, a UGC (user-generated content) creator in the travel and outdoor gear space. He produces content for brands, posts on Instagram Reels and TikTok, and is scaling his output. Editing is the bottleneck. We need someone who can take raw footage and turn it into polished, engaging short-form content that feels authentic, fast-paced, and visually sharp, without making it look overproduced.

WHAT YOU'LL BE EDITING

- Short-form vertical video (15-90 seconds) for Instagram Reels and TikTok
- UGC-style content for outdoor gear brands (product demos, travel experiences, lifestyle)
- Occasional longer cuts for brand deliverables

THE STYLE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

This is the most important section. Read carefully.

We are NOT looking for corporate or heavily produced edits. The style that fits this creator is:

- Fast-paced but not chaotic. Cuts are tight and intentional.
- Natural color grades, slightly warm or cinematic tones. Not heavy LUTs or oversaturated filters.
- Clean text overlays when used. Simple fonts, not animated word-by-word captions that feel like AI-generated edits.
- Sound design matters. Music choice, audio transitions, and ambient sound layering are key to the vibe.
- Engages in the first 2 seconds. Hook is always prioritized.
- Feels human and real, not polished in a generic agency way.

Reference style: Outdoor/adventure gear content where the product is shown in real use, not staged. Think storytelling through movement and environment, not talking head or studio shots.

REFERENCE VIDEOS (Study These Before Applying)

These are examples of the editing style we're looking for. Watch all of them before you apply. Your test edit will be evaluated against this standard.

Go to Instagram and search for these reels by the creator's handle and reel ID:

1. instagram (dot) com/reel/C6_9m3VPI4k/
2. instagram (dot) com/reel/DVjGQc1DJtd/
3. instagram (dot) com/reel/DVgPJQsjaQ8/
4. instagram (dot) com/reel/DVT-NmdEcZn/

(Copy the reel ID after /reel/ and paste it into Instagram search, or type the full path into your browser.)

Pay specific attention to pacing, color tone, how text is used (or not used), and how the audio drives the edit.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Receive raw footage, a rough outline or shot list, and music/style references from Nicolai
- Deliver a first cut within 48 hours
- Accept feedback and deliver revisions within 24 hours (max 2 revision rounds per video)
- Organize and label all files clearly for handoff
- Maintain consistency across videos so the creator's feed has a cohesive look

YOU'RE A FIT IF YOU

- Have edited short-form content for Instagram or TikTok (examples required to apply)
- Understand the difference between UGC-style and branded/agency-style editing
- Are proficient in CapCut, Premiere Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
- Have strong instincts for music selection and audio pacing
- Communicate clearly in English and respond within a reasonable time window
- Can commit to consistent weekly delivery, not just one-off projects

YOU'RE NOT A FIT IF

- Your portfolio is only long-form YouTube or corporate content
- You rely on auto-captions and pre-made CapCut templates as your primary editing style
- You need extensive direction on every single cut
- You've never edited content in the travel, outdoor, or lifestyle niche

HOW TO APPLY

Include the following in your application:

1. 2-3 examples of short-form content you've edited (Instagram Reels or TikTok preferred, links are fine)
2. The tools you use
3. Your rate per video (15-60 second range) and your rate per hour
4. Your current availability and turnaround time
5. One sentence on what you think makes a great UGC edit

Applications without video examples will not be reviewed.

ONE LAST THING

We are building a long-term working relationship, not a one-video gig. If the quality is there, this grows. We start with a paid test edit to make sure the fit is right on both sides before committing to ongoing work.
