JOB OVERVIEW

This is not just a video editing job. It is an operator role that drives business.

You know what makes a viewer stop scrolling, what keeps them through the middle of a 30-minute episode, and what makes them act at the end. Retention gets the video watched. Viral reach is a welcome bonus, but a clip that books one qualified call beats one that pulls a million views from the wrong audience.

Every video we publish has a job to do: book a free strategy call, grow our community, earn a subscriber, or move a viewer one step closer to working with us. You will own whether it does that job. You will edit our CEO's full-length YouTube episodes and the short-form clips cut from them, and you will be accountable for results, not just the export.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Before the edit
-Confirm the goal and call to action for every video with our marketing team before you cut
-Build each edit toward that call to action from the first frame

Long-form
-Edit full-length YouTube episodes: recorded conversations, talks, and screen-share walkthroughs of real systems and dashboards
-Build a cold open that delivers the payoff early, then cut dead air, tangents, and repetition
-Add re-hooks before natural drop-off points, plus B-roll, lower thirds, and chapters
-Partner on titles and thumbnails, and make sure the first 30 seconds deliver what they promise
-End every episode with a clear, topic-relevant call to action
-Clean audio, sync multicam footage, and correct color

Short-form
-Mine every long-form recording for its strongest 20 to 60 second moments
-Open each clip on its strongest line. No intros, no throat-clearing, no logo stings
-Write the on-screen text hook for the first frame
-Edit for retention: cut rhythm, pattern interrupts, B-roll that proves the point, sound design, word-level captions, and endings that loop
-Format natively for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, LinkedIn, and TikTok

Results
-Weekly output: 1 to 2 long-form episodes and 10 to 15 short-form clips
-Report weekly on what each video was built to do and whether it did it: retention curves, drop-off points, viewed vs swiped away, shares, and call-to-action results
-Propose what to change next week, and why
-Keep a running library of hooks, openings, and calls to action that converted and those that did not
-Apply revision notes precisely and fast

HOW WE MEASURE SUCCESS
Views alone do not count. We track:

-Conversion: calls booked, community sign-ups, link clicks, and other call-to-action results traced to your videos
-Long-form retention: average view duration, average percentage viewed, and retention through the first 30 seconds
-Short-form retention: viewed vs swiped away rate above our channel baseline, and average percentage viewed rising month over month
-Shares, sends, and audience growth among business owners and decision-makers

WHAT YOU NEED
-Documented proof that videos you edited achieved a business goal: leads, sign-ups, sales, booked calls, or another call to action. View counts alone do not qualify. Viral results are a plus
-2+ years editing both long-form YouTube content and short-form clips, ideally talking-head, interview, or podcast formats
-The ability to explain why each edit choice holds attention and moves viewers to act
-Hands-on experience reading audience retention graphs in YouTube Studio, plus Instagram or TikTok analytics
-Strong written English. Captions, hooks, and titles go out under the CEO’s name, so spelling errors are not acceptable
-You watch short-form content daily and notice format shifts as they happen
