JOB OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a mid-level Video Editor & Motion Designer to join Muscle Nation’s creative team and help produce high-performing paid social content. This role is equal parts editing and motion design where you’ll cut raw footage into conversion-focused video ads AND build polished motion assets including supers, lower thirds, animated transitions, and kinetic typography.

If you understand how paid media ads are structured, know what makes someone stop scrolling in the first 3 seconds, and can execute both live-action edits and motion graphics at a high level - we want to hear from you!

About the Role

You’ll work across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok ad campaigns, collaborating closely with our Creative Strategist, Paid Media Manager, and videographers. You’re not just assembling clips - you’re building ads with a clear understanding of direct-response structure: hook, body, CTA. You know how to re-hook viewers throughout a piece using pacing shifts, visual pattern interrupts and motion elements that maintain attention.

Your Day-to-Day

- Edit video content for paid social campaigns across Meta and TikTok, working with existing footage and assets stored in Google Drive
- Create 3+ variations per concept for testing - different hooks, pacing, CTAs and visual treatments to maximise performance
- Design and build motion assets: animated supers, lower thirds, text overlays, transitions, kinetic typography, and branded end cards
- Craft scroll-stopping hooks in the first 1–3 seconds using a combination of editing technique and motion design
- Apply re-hook techniques throughout each ad - pacing changes, visual pattern interrupts, text callouts, and motion cues that sustain viewer attention
- Adapt content across platform-specific formats and aspect ratios (9:16 Stories/Reels, 4:5 Feed, 1:1 where needed)
- Collaborate with the Creative Strategist and Paid Media Manager to interpret briefs, understand performance data, and iterate on creative direction
- Coordinate with videographers to understand available footage and plan asset requirements
- Test new creative approaches and editing styles while maintaining brand consistency
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously with quick turnaround times
- Stay current with paid social trends, platform algorithm changes, and emerging ad formats

What We’re Looking For

- 2-4 years of video editing experience with a focus on social media advertising or performance creative
- Strong motion graphics and animation skills - you can build supers, lower thirds, animated text, transitions, and branded elements from scratch in After Effects (or equivalent)
- Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or similar) plus experience with After Effects or a comparable motion design tool
- Experience with AI-driven editing and design platforms
- Deep understanding of paid ad structure - you know how hooks, body content, and CTAs work together to drive conversions
- Strong design eye - you understand typography, layout, colour, and hierarchy, and can apply these principles to motion assets that look polished and on-brand
- Knowledge of platform-specific video formats, specs, and best practices across Meta and TikTok
- Experience creating multiple creative variations for testing and optimisation
- Ability to work with feedback efficiently, managing multiple projects with tight deadlines
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with creative and paid media teams across time zones

Bonus Points

- Experience with fitness, wellness, or supplement brands
- Understanding of paid social advertising metrics (CTR, hook rate, hold rate, thumbstop ratio, ROAS)
- Experience editing UGC-style content for direct-response campaigns
- Familiarity with creative testing frameworks and iteration processes
- Background working with e-commerce brands or performance marketing agencies
- Familiarity with the Australian market and cultural nuances

Work Arrangement

- 30-day contract with a view to transition into a full-time role based on performance and mutual fit
- Based in the Philippines, working remotely with our Australian team
- Flexible schedule with regular meetings alongside AU creative and paid media teams
- Reporting to the Creative Strategist and Paid Media Manager

How to Apply

Please note: we will only progress applications that complete the task below.

Video Editing & Motion Design Task

Objective:

Promote our Protein Water to fitness enthusiasts aged 22–35 through engaging short-form paid social content.

Brief:

You’ve been provided with raw footage here. Your task is to create 3x short-form video ads (15–30 seconds each), each with a different hook and creative approach, suitable for Facebook and Instagram Feed/Stories.

You can use placeholder footage or describe your editing approach where needed.

Available Assets:
UGC-style fitness creator footage (gym setting, protein shaker)
Pouring clips
Workout clips
Product pack shots
Backdrop footage

What We Want to See:

- A strong, scroll-stopping hook within the first 3 seconds of each variation - show us you understand what makes someone stop and watch
- Re-hook techniques throughout each ad that sustain viewer attention (pacing shifts, visual pattern interrupts, text callouts, motion cues)
- Motion design elements you’ve built: supers, lower thirds, animated text, transitions, or branded end cards - these should demonstrate your design ability, not just your editing chops
- Understanding of paid ad structure: hook > body > CTA
- Platform-appropriate formatting in both 9:16 and 4:5 aspect ratios

Submission Requirements:
- 3x video ad variations as described above
- Your portfolio showcasing relevant paid social video and motion design work
- A brief cover letter explaining your experience with performance creative and motion design, and why this role excites you

Evaluation Criteria:

- Hook effectiveness - does it stop the scroll in the first 3 seconds?
- Re-hook and pacing techniques - how well do you sustain attention throughout the ad?
- Motion design quality - are your supers, text treatments, and transitions polished and well-designed?
- Understanding of paid ad structure and platform best practices
- Creative storytelling and performance marketing mindset
- Technical editing skills and attention to detail

We’re excited to see how you can help elevate our paid social creative and drive results for Muscle Nation!
