If you’re a fast-learning, detail-obsessed video editor who can take direction, solve problems, and consistently deliver clean edits on deadline, I want to hear from you.
This is a contract position (not full-time right now). That said, if the fit is great, there’s potential for more consistent hours, a retainer, and/or a longer-term role.
I run multiple businesses, including Brands & Empires (media),
What I need;
I need an editor who can confidently handle:
Short-form editing (primary need)
Meta-Ads with state of the industry cuts / music / text on screen and effects
TikTok / Reels / YouTube Shorts
Strong hooks, fast pacing, clean captions, punch-ins, pattern interrupts
Can pull multiple short clips from long-form content
Comfortable matching a reference style and brand tone
Long-form editing (as needed)
Multi-hour long training materials and courses (typically using provided graphics and slides)
YouTube long-form (talking head, podcast-style, training, interview, etc.)
Clean storytelling and pacing
Light motion graphics, simple on-screen text, b-roll/overlays when appropriate
Audio cleanup basics (levels, clarity, removing obvious distractions)
Responsibilities
You will be:
Editing short-form and long-form videos based on clear direction and examples
Turning raw footage into high-retention edits (not just cutting dead space)
Adding captions (burned-in or SRT—depending on the project)
Incorporating b-roll, images, zooms, callouts, and basic graphics where needed
Delivering exports in the correct formats and specs
Communicating clearly and asking smart questions when needed
Handling revisions quickly and professionally
Requirements (non-negotiable);
Proven editing skill (portfolio required)
Strong understanding of spoken English (You must understand timing, tone, and meaning to be able to pull the best cuts from my source material)
Experience editing short-form vertical content
Reliable workflow + organization (file naming, versions, clean exports)
Fast turnaround and responsiveness during active projects
You must be able to receive feedback and apply it quickly
Preferred (nice to have);
After Effects or motion graphics experience (simple is fine)
Experience editing business/entrepreneurship content
Familiarity with YouTube retention pacing / pattern interrupts
Time zone + communication
I’m on Eastern US Time (ET).
This is contract work, but I strongly prefer someone who can overlap at least a couple hours/day during ET for messages, feedback, and quick iteration when we’re in production.
Compensation
Contract / per-project or hourly (you tell me your preferred structure)
This begins as as-needed, but if you’re great, I’d like to move toward a steady weekly volume or retainer
We can start with a paid trial project to confirm fit (style, speed, communication)
To apply (follow exactly)
Please understand: these steps are intentional. They filter out low-effort applications so I can focus on serious editors.
1) Subject line:
“I’m the video editor you’re looking for — [Your Name]”
2) First line of your message (exactly 2–3 sentences):
Explain why you want this work and why you’re a strong fit for short-form + long-form editing.
More or less than 2–3 sentences will disqualify the application.
3) Include links to your work (required):
1 short-form example you edited (vertical)
1 long-form example you edited (YouTube-style)
1 additional example you feel best represents your skill (any format)
4) Answer this question (to show you read the post):
If I give you a 30–60 minute long-form recording, how would you choose 5 short clips that are most likely to perform well?
5) List the following (bullet points):
Editing software you use (Premiere / DaVinci / Final Cut / CapCut / AE, etc.)
Typical turnaround time for:
1 short (30–60 seconds)
1 long-form edit (10–30 minutes finished length)
Your rate (hourly and/or per deliverable)
Weekly availability (hours/week)
6) Revisions + communication:
Confirm you’re comfortable with feedback and can turn revisions quickly during ET overlap.
Important: Please do not include anything beyond what I asked for above, or your application will be disqualified.
If you have a question
Send a message titled: “Quick Question”
Tell me exactly what’s unclear and what you need. This isn’t a trick—being able to ask smart questions is part of doing great work with us.
If you’re selected for the next step, we’ll do a brief Zoom/Google Meet call (video required), and then move to a paid trial edit.
