Full-Time Video Editor and Content Partner (First Hire at Mattering, Long-Term, One Client Only)

SALARY
USD 1,100 base plus USD 100 health stipend (approx. PHP 60,000 to 70,000 per month to start), paid in USD, with 13th month pay, paid leave, and a six-month raise review. Details below.

THE SHORT VERSION

Mattering is an AI workspace platform, a suite of business apps built around chat and agents. Until now it has been built and run by one person. Me. The product is live. The company has never had a second person in it.

This role is that second person.

WHAT THIS ACTUALLY IS

You would be the first hire Mattering has ever made. Not the first content hire. The first anybody. There is no team to join, no manager between us, and nobody ahead of you. Every person who joins after you comes in behind you.

The job itself is content. You d ---------- what Mattering sounds like on YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and LinkedIn, and then you make it. You will have full access to the product, to the problems our customers are trying to solve, and to how I think about the business, because there is no version of this where you don't.

I will be honest about where we are. This is early. The content engine does not exist yet. The company is me, a working product, and the person reading this. If you want a defined role at a settled company, this is not it. If you want to be the person who was there when it was two people, keep reading.

THE CREATIVE BRIEF

Funny on the outside, useful on the inside.

Mattering competes with big, well-funded names in the AI and productivity space. We will not out-spend them. We can out-entertain them and out-teach them. The content has to be enjoyable enough that people actually watch it, and credible enough that a business owner trusts us with their work. Finding that line every week is the job.

Formats you will own:
- Short-form video (TikTok, Reels, Shorts): hooks, pacing, captions, sound
- Long-form YouTube: product walkthroughs, founder-led storytelling, tutorials
- Clipping and repurposing: turning recordings, demos and screen captures into a steady stream of short content
- Thumbnails and titles
- A publishing calendar you run, not one you are handed

WHAT YOU WILL DO

- Edit and package video content daily, short-form and long-form
- Turn raw founder footage, screen recordings and product demos into finished pieces without waiting to be told how
- Write hooks, titles, captions and descriptions
- Design thumbnails and simple motion graphics
- Build and run the content calendar across channels
- Track what performs, tell me why, and change the plan based on it
- Learn the product deeply enough to explain it better than I do
- Over time, define the Mattering content voice and own it

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Required:
- 3+ years editing video professionally, with a portfolio that shows both short-form and long-form work
- Strong in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, comfortable in CapCut for fast short-form
- You understand retention, hooks and pacing, not just cuts and transitions
- You can make something funny without making it stupid
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Reliable internet, a machine that can handle 4K timelines, and a quiet place to work
- At least 3 hours of daily overlap with US Pacific time (this is your morning)
- You want one long-term employer, not a roster of clients

Strong plus:
- After Effects or motion graphics
- Thumbnail design (Photoshop, Figma or similar)
- Experience with SaaS, software or tech content
- You have grown a channel or account yourself, even a small one
- You have used AI tools in your editing workflow and have opinions about them

WHO THIS IS FOR, AND WHO IT IS NOT FOR

This is for you if you are tired of being handed a brief and want to be the person who writes it. If you have ideas you never got to make because the client said no. If you would rather build a channel from zero and have it be yours than inherit one.

This is not for you if you want clear instructions for every task, if you need a large team around you, or if you are looking for a side project alongside other clients.

COMPENSATION AND COMMITMENT

What you get:
- Fixed monthly retainer, paid in USD on the same date every month, starting at USD 1,100
- USD 100 per month health and benefits stipend on top of base
- 13th month pay, paid every December
- 12 days paid leave per year plus Philippine regular holidays
- Six-month review with a raise target of USD 1,300 to 1,500 based on performance
- Annual review after that
- One month written notice, both directions
- Direct daily access to the founder and the full product

What I ask in return:
- Full-time, dedicated. No other clients during the engagement.
- Ownership. You bring the plan, I do not chase you for it.
- Honesty. If something is not working, I want to hear it from you first.

This is a long-term independent contractor engagement, not a short-term gig. The first 30 days are a paid trial at full rate with a clear scorecard. After that we sign the long-term agreement.

THE HONEST PART ABOUT GROWTH

I cannot promise you Mattering becomes a big company. I can promise that if it does, you were first, the content side is yours to lead, and the next content hire reports to you. Growth here is real but it is earned, by both of us.

Someone is going to be the first person at Mattering. I would rather it be someone who knows exactly what that means.

HOW TO APPLY

Read this carefully. Applications that skip a step will not be reviewed. This is the first test.

2. Link your portfolio. Include at least two short-form pieces and one long-form piece. Tell me which parts of each you personally did.
3. Record a 2 to 3 minute Loom or video. Not a script, just you talking. Tell me about one video you made better without being asked to, and what you changed.
4. Answer this in 3 to 5 sentences: Mattering sells software to business owners. How do you make that funny without making the product look like a joke?
5. Tell me your expected monthly salary in PHP and when you could start.

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to do a paid spec edit from real footage before interviews. You will be paid for it whether or not you are hired.
