JOB OVERVIEW

A client and I are looking for a reliable, creative Video Editor VA to support edits of long form video content.

This role is ideal for someone who understands how to turn raw talking-head footage, B-roll, podcasts, or educational content into polished, engaging videos for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and potentially longer-form YouTube content. We also have lots of very long videos that can be repurposed into content.

You should have a strong eye for pacing, clean design, and storytelling. We’re looking for someone who can follow an established brand style while also recognizing opportunities to make content more engaging.

You’ll help with:

- Editing short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
- Cutting longer videos into multiple usable social media clips
- Removing pauses, filler, mistakes, and unnecessary footage
- Adding clean captions and on-screen text
- Incorporating B-roll, graphics, screenshots, or other visual elements where appropriate
- Selecting music and sound effects when needed
- Creating strong pacing and visual movement without over-editing
- Formatting content correctly for each platform
- Following existing brand guidelines and editing styles
- Organizing completed files and maintaining a clear editing workflow
- Making revisions based on feedback
- Meeting agreed-upon turnaround times

Depending on experience, there may also be opportunities to help identify strong clips or hooks within longer-form content.

You’re likely a good fit if you:

- Have experience editing social media video content
- Understand short-form pacing and viewer retention
- Can create polished videos without relying on excessive effects or trendy editing
- Have strong attention to detail
- Can follow creative direction while using good judgment independently
- Communicate clearly and reliably
- Are comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions
- Can maintain consistency across multiple pieces of content
- Have experience setting up a YouTube account and managing it.

Experience with tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar editing software is welcome.

- Advanced: I have extensive client experience, understand retention and platform-specific editing, and can take raw footage through the full editing process with minimal direction.
