Counter Culture Productions is a boutique cinematic content studio specializing in short-form brand storytelling for regional and national clients. We produce commercials, social media reels, and advertising content that earns attention — not just fills a feed. We're looking for an editor who understands that every cut is a decision about meaning, not just timing.
You're not waiting to be told what the story is. You watch the footage, you find it. You have a developed sense of narrative arc — you know where tension lives, where the release needs to happen, and how to build a sequence that carries a viewer from curiosity to conviction without them knowing why they're hooked. You've watched enough great work — film, documentary, commercial — that pacing is intuitive to you. You don't just assemble clips. You build an experience.
Take raw footage from cinematic brand shoots and shape it into polished short-form content (60 sec) with minimal direction.
Develop and execute a narrative arc independently — rough cut to final with a clear editorial point of view.
Build pacing that serves the brand's emotional tone: sometimes kinetic, sometimes slow and deliberate, always intentional.
Color grade or work alongside a colorist to maintain visual consistency and cinematic feel.
Cut to music with a strong sense of rhythm and breath — not just on the beat.
Integrate AI-assisted tools (upscaling, audio cleanup, background generation, motion tracking, etc.) where they improve the work, not just the workflow.
Deliver client-ready 4K exports optimized for web, broadcast, and social formats.
Occasionally concept alongside the director in pre-production to flag editorial opportunities in the shot list.
