JOB OVERVIEW

Video Editor Short Form and Long Form (Reels, VSLs, YouTube)

What you'd be doing

Instagram and TikTok reels, 30 to 60 seconds, at volume
VSLs - long talking head that has to hold attention with what you put on screen
YouTube long form
Paid ad creative, cut into variations for testing

What you need to be good at

Motion graphics. Kinetic type, animated lower thirds, logo stings, built transitions. After Effects work that you can edit yourself, ideally not preset packs you've dragged onto a timeline. NO AI VIDEO EDITING
Overlays. B-roll, screen recordings, stock, graphics sat on top of talking head footage. The skill here is knowing what belongs on screen and the exact frame it should land on.
Premium finish. Colour grading, sound design, audio cleanup.
Captions. Styled to brand, frame-accurate, readable on a phone with sound off. Auto-generated captions dumped straight from CapCut won't cut it.
Pacing. You understand why a reel dies at second three and what to do about it.
Creative input. We'll give you raw footage and a brief. We want you coming back with hook ideas, cutdowns we didn't ask for, and opinions on what's working.
Turnaround. Reels back ASAP, long-form within a day or so. Consistency matters more to us than speed.

Software

Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, plus After Effects. If you use AI tooling to work faster, tell us which and how.

Useful but not essential

Direct response or performance marketing experience. Thumbnail design would be amazing. Understanding of what Meta and YouTube ad accounts need in a deliverable. Experience cutting for a founder or personal brand.
