Claimwise Billing Solutions is looking for an experienced **Verification of Benefits (VOB) Representative** to join our team.
We provide billing and revenue cycle management services for **mental health (MH) and substance use disorder (SUD) providers and facilities** across multiple levels of care, including:
- Office Visits / Outpatient Services
- Outpatient (OP)
- Intensive Outpatient (IOP)
- Partial Hospitalization (PHP)
- Residential Treatment (RTC)
- Detox
### Primary Responsibilities
The VOB Representative will be responsible for verifying a patient's insurance benefits before admission or treatment. Responsibilities include:
- Contacting insurance companies to verify active coverage and behavioral health benefits
- Determining in-network and out-of-network benefits
- Verifying deductibles, copays, coinsurance, and out-of-pocket maximums
- Checking whether authorization or pre-certification is required
- Verifying coverage for specific levels of care and services
- Identifying behavioral health carve-outs and third-party administrators
- Using insurance payer portals to obtain eligibility and benefit information
- Calling insurance companies when portal information is unavailable or incomplete
- Accurately documenting benefit information for our clients and internal teams
- Communicating clearly with authorization and billing staff when additional follow-up is needed
### Required Qualifications
**Previous experience verifying insurance benefits is required.**
Applicants should also have:
- Experience calling insurance companies and speaking with payer representatives
- Experience using insurance portals such as Availity and other payer-specific portals
- Strong verbal English skills, as this position requires frequent phone calls with U.S. insurance companies
- Strong written English and documentation skills
- Good attention to detail and the ability to accurately record complex insurance benefit information
- Ability to work independently and follow established VOB procedures
- Reliable computer and internet access
### Preferred Experience
Experience with **mental health and substance use disorder insurance benefits** is strongly preferred, particularly experience verifying benefits for:
- Detox
- Residential Treatment
- PHP
- IOP
- Outpatient behavioral health services
Understanding behavioral health authorization requirements, carve-outs, and different levels of care would be a significant advantage.
### Additional Advantage
Experience with **insurance claim follow-up, claim status, denials, or accounts receivable (A/R)** is also a plus.
This is not required for the VOB position, but candidates who have experience with both **Verification of Benefits and claim follow-up** may have opportunities to take on additional responsibilities as the position grows.
