Researcher needed to build a targeted B2B prospect list of private equity firms and independent sponsors that have RECENTLY ACQUIRED a company (last 0–120 days). You'll monitor deal announcements, qualify firms against simple rules, and find contact info for 1–2 people per firm. Detail matters more than speed. ~5–8 hrs/week, 6 weeks, likely ongoing for the right person. Please include the word "flywheel" in your application so I know you read this.
What the VA does weekly
Find recent deals (the trigger): Google Alerts results I'll share + searching: "completes acquisition," "platform investment," "recapitalization," "announces acquisition of" (past 30 days); LinkedIn posts "excited to announce the acquisition"; PE Hub / Axios Pro Rata newsletters; SearchFunder closed-deal posts (I'll provide login/screenshots).
Qualify the acquirer — INCLUDE if: independent/fundless sponsor (any size), OR PE firm with roughly 2–50 employees and ~3–15 portfolio companies listed on its site, OR family office doing direct deals. Acquired company looks like $2M–$50M revenue B2B (services, distribution, manufacturing, home services).
EXCLUDE if: firm >$1B AUM or >50 employees; website shows a "Data & Analytics" or "Digital" team; VC firm; acquirer is a public company or large strategic; deal older than 120 days.
Find contacts (1–2 per firm), in priority order: Operating Partner ? Head/VP of Portfolio Operations ? the Principal/VP named in the deal announcement ? Founder/Managing Partner (always the contact for sponsors).
