JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Tekla Structural Steel Detailer who is also proficient in AutoCAD 2D. This is a full-time, long-term remote position.

Both Tekla Structures and AutoCAD 2D are mandatory. Please do not apply unless you have strong practical experience with both programs and access to fully operational versions of the required software. Software will not be provided by the company.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop accurate Tekla models for structural steel projects using architectural, structural and engineering drawings.

• Prepare complete structural steel shop drawings, including general arrangement drawings, assembly drawings, single-part drawings, connection details, material lists and fabrication information.

• Identify discrepancies, missing information and coordination issues between architectural, structural and other relevant drawings.

• Prepare clear and professional RFIs and coordinate drawing revisions and approvals.

• Produce accurate AutoCAD 2D shop drawings for aluminium and architectural metalwork, including balustrades, handrails, privacy screens, louvres, awnings, pergolas, fences, gates and façade-related metalwork.

• Communicate professionally by telephone and email with engineers, architects, builders, project managers, suppliers and our internal team.

• Manage drawing comments, maintain revision control and complete work within the required deadlines.

Mandatory requirements:

• Advanced practical experience with Tekla Structures and structural steel detailing.

• Strong AutoCAD 2D drafting experience.

• Access to fully operational Tekla Structures and AutoCAD software. The company will not provide the required software.

• Ability to accurately read and understand architectural, structural and engineering drawings.

• Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication, connections and erection requirements.

• Ability to independently produce complete, fabrication-ready drawings—not only Tekla models.

• Excellent written and spoken English.

• Confidence communicating professionally by telephone, email and online meetings.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a thorough checking process.

• Reliable, hardworking, organised and able to work quickly without compromising accuracy.

• A suitable computer, reliable high-speed internet and a professional remote working environment.

Our projects are detailed in millimetres and require an extremely high level of accuracy. Even small errors involving dimensions, levels, members, connections or revisions can cause significant fabrication and installation problems. The successful applicant must carefully cross-check all drawings and take responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of their work.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete a practical Tekla and AutoCAD 2D drafting test. Only applicants who successfully complete the test will be considered for the position.

Experience with Australian construction projects, Australian structural steel practices and relevant Australian Standards will be highly regarded.
