# Technical Recruiter – Marine / Shipyard Trades
**Part-Time | Remote | UK Company | Approx. 2 Days per Week Initially**
We are a UK-based company supplying skilled technical personnel for projects aboard **cruise ships, superyachts, commercial vessels and within shipyards/dry docks**.
We are looking for an experienced **Technical Recruiter** to join us on a part-time, remote basis. The successful candidate will initially work approximately **2 days per week**, with the potential for the role and hours to expand for the right person.
## The Role
Your primary responsibility will be to review, screen and shortlist skilled tradespeople for marine and shipyard projects, ensuring candidates have the appropriate technical experience, qualifications and certifications before being selected for testing and potential mobilisation.
You will recruit across technical trades including:
* Welders / coded welders
* Pipefitters and fabricators
* Mechanical fitters / technicians
* Electricians
* Plumbers
* HVAC and related mechanical trades
* Other skilled marine and shipyard personnel
## Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Reviewing incoming CVs and applications
* Conducting initial candidate screening and telephone/video interviews
* Assessing candidates' technical experience and suitability for specific projects
* Reviewing welding qualifications, coding/certification and relevant trade credentials
* Understanding the difference between candidates suitable for shipyard/dry-dock work and those suitable for mobilisation aboard operational vessels
* Checking candidates' marine documentation and certification where required
* Identifying candidates who should progress to practical trade/welding testing
* Shortlisting and recommending suitable personnel to management
* Maintaining accurate candidate records and recruitment pipelines
* Communicating with candidates regarding documentation, testing, availability and potential mobilisation
* Helping develop and maintain a reliable pool of qualified technical personnel for future projects
## Technical Knowledge Required
NOTE This is **not a general recruitment or virtual assistant position**. We are specifically looking for someone who understands technical trades and can confidently assess whether a candidate's experience and qualifications are relevant.
You should have good working knowledge of several of the following areas:
**Welding & Fabrication**
Understanding of welding processes and terminology such as TIG/GTAW, MIG/MAG/GMAW, SMAW/MMA, FCAW, welding positions, materials and coded/qualified welders.
You should be comfortable reviewing welding qualifications and understanding whether a candidate's certification and experience are appropriate for the work being considered.
**Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing**
Ability to understand CVs from mechanical fitters, pipefitters, electricians, plumbers and similar technical personnel and distinguish genuine relevant experience from general construction experience.
**Marine / Shipyard Recruitment**
Ideally, you will understand the documentation and certification that can be required when personnel work aboard vessels, cruise ships, yachts or within shipyards/dry docks.
Experience dealing with areas such as STCW certification, seafarer medicals, passports/visas, seaman's books and vessel-specific requirements would be highly advantageous.
You do not need to be a welder or engineer yourself, but you **must be technically confident enough to screen experienced tradespeople and ask the right questions**.
## Ideal Candidate
We would particularly like to hear from candidates who have previously worked in:
* Marine or maritime recruitment
* Shipyard recruitment
* Oil & gas / offshore recruitment
* Engineering recruitment
* Skilled trades recruitment
* Welding/fabrication recruitment
* Technical manpower or crewing agencies
Previous experience recruiting Filipino skilled tradespeople for international projects would be a significant advantage.
## Working Arrangement
* Fully remote position
* Working for a UK-based company
* Initially approximately **2 days per week**. Starting next month.
* Potential to increase hours/responsibilities for the right candidate
* Some availability during UK working hours will be required
* Hourly rate: Negotiable depending on experience**
We are more interested in finding someone with the **right technical knowledge and recruitment experience** than simply selecting the lowest hourly rate.
## How to Apply
Please send your CV together with Linkedin page and a short introduction explaining your relevant recruitment experience.
In your application, please specifically answer the following:
1. What experience do you have recruiting welders, mechanical trades or other skilled technical personnel?
2. Have you recruited personnel for marine, shipyard, offshore or vessel-based work?
3. What welding qualifications/certifications are you familiar with?
4. What documentation or certification would you normally check before mobilising a tradesperson to work aboard a vessel?
5. Which technical trades are you most experienced in recruiting?
6. What hourly rate are you seeking?
7. Are you available approximately 2 days per week initially?
Applications that do not address these questions may not be considered.
We are looking for someone who can become a trusted part of our recruitment process and, for the right candidate, there is potential for the position to develop into a larger ongoing role.
