JOB OVERVIEW

About the role

We’re looking for a sharp, dependable tax-season pro to support our CPA firm during peak season. Your main job is to take client source documents (W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, organizers, prior-year returns, etc.) and accurately enter the data into Drake Tax Software. You’ll also work inside TaxDome to keep tasks, documents, and client communications clean and on track.

If you’re fast, accurate, and comfortable working with clear processes and deadlines, you’ll fit right in.

Responsibilities

Enter individual and small business tax return data into Drake Tax from provided source documents

Review documents for completeness and flag missing/unclear items

Maintain clean, well-organized client files and workpapers

Use TaxDome to:

update tasks/statuses

manage document requests

track return progress

follow firm workflow/checklists

Communicate questions/issues clearly and promptly to the preparer or manager

Meet daily/weekly production targets during tax season

Follow confidentiality and data security procedures at all times

Required experience

2+ tax seasons supporting US tax prep (individual + small business preferred)

Hands-on experience with Drake Tax Software

Hands-on experience with TaxDome

Strong understanding of common US tax documents:

W-2, 1099 series, SSA-1099, INT/DIV/B, NEC/MISC

K-1 (1065/1120S/1041)

Schedule C / rental / investment statements

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy under time pressure

Reliable internet + ability to work consistent seasonal hours

Nice-to-have

Experience in a CPA firm or multi-client tax environment

Familiarity with organizing workpapers and reconciling carryovers/prior-year data

Payroll or bookkeeping background

Exposure to other tax platforms (Lacerte, ProSeries, UltraTax, etc.)

What success looks like

Returns are entered cleanly and correctly the first time

You catch missing items early and communicate them clearly

You consistently hit volume targets without sacrificing quality

TaxDome stays updated so leadership always knows where every return stands

Schedule / Duration

Seasonal role during tax peak (approx. January–April, with possible extension)

Expected workload: full-time during season (exact hours set based on your timezone and firm needs)

Pay

Competitive seasonal rate based on experience and speed
