We are seeking Tax Filers to join a growing sales and use tax compliance team. This role owns the execution end of the monthly compliance cycle — preparing and transmitting returns across multiple jurisdictions, reconciling payments, and resolving jurisdictional notices through to closure. It is a deadline-driven, detail-intensive position where accuracy and a complete audit trail matter more than speed alone.
The ideal candidate is someone who works comfortably against a high-volume filing calendar, knows when to stop and escalate rather than guess, and takes pride in clean documentation. Experience filing multistate sales and use tax returns through EDI and jurisdiction portals will set you apart. Two openings are available on this team.
Job Responsibilities:
Receive and review approved filing packages, confirming that required approvals, funding, credentials, and supporting documentation are complete before proceeding.
Prepare, enter, upload, and transmit sales and use tax returns through EDI, online portals, key entry, checks, mail, and other required channels.
Complete online balance reviews and process approved voucher and filing adjustments.
Retain filing confirmations, submission evidence, and supporting documentation for every return transmitted.
Escalate discrepancies or missing information ahead of deadlines without independently altering approved source data, tax positions, or client scope.
Return incomplete filing packages upstream with a specific exception noted and a clear deadline for resolution.
Process or coordinate jurisdiction payments in line with approved controls and funding instructions.
Reconcile filed liabilities, payment confirmations, online balances, and the check register.
Research uncleared, rejected, duplicate, or misapplied payments and coordinate corrective action through to resolution.
Log, receive, and research jurisdictional notices across both mail and online channels.
Review account history and jurisdiction records, prepare notice responses, and submit approved correspondence.
Track notice matters through to full resolution and maintain accurate status records.
Escalate notices involving client decisions, material exposure, taxability positions, or broader account risk to the appropriate stakeholders.
Follow documented filing, payment, credential, evidence retention, and escalation controls without deviation.
Provide timely status updates and exception reporting to the engagement lead and manager.
Identify recurring filing, payment, portal, and notice issues and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
Manage a high-volume deadline calendar aligned to jurisdictional due dates throughout each monthly cycle.
Qualifications:
At least 5 years of experience in indirect tax, compliance, accounting operations, or a similar deadline-driven function.
Prior experience supporting US-based clients or US tax operations.
Working knowledge of multistate sales and use tax filing processes and jurisdictional requirements.
Hands-on experience with tax compliance software, jurisdiction portals, EDI transmission, and multiple payment methods.
Intermediate or stronger Excel skills, with strong reconciliation and data entry accuracy.
Proven ability to manage a high-volume deadline calendar with exceptional accuracy and follow-through.
Strong documentation discipline and the ability to preserve a complete audit trail.
Sound escalation judgment — knows when to stop, flag, and seek approval rather than proceed on assumption.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and taxing jurisdictions.
Strong organizational and time management skills across competing monthly deadlines.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience with check register and payment reconciliation preferred.
Familiarity with jurisdictional notice research and response preparation preferred.
Requirements:
Updated Resume/CV.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Reliable internet connection and personal computer.
UPS/battery backup to ensure continuity during power interruptions.
Benefits:
Competitive salary with performance-based incentives.
WFH set-up
Opportunities for career advancement.
HMO coverage for employee and immediate family members.
