Australian Steel Fabrication Company | Full-Time | Work From Home

KFM Welding & Engineering is an Australian steel fabrication and manufacturing company looking for an experienced Structural Steel Detailer / 3D CAD Designer to join our team long-term.

Our work includes structural steel buildings, agricultural sheds, workshops, trailers, transport equipment and custom fabricated steel products.

This is a permanent long-term position working directly for our company, not through an outsourcing agency.

What You Will Work On

Structural Steel

* Tekla 3D modelling
* Structural steel shop/fabrication drawings
* GA and erection drawings
* Assembly and single-part drawings
* Connections, cleats and plate detailing
* BOMs and material take-offs
* Bolt lists
* Purlin layouts
* NC and DXF files
* Drawing revisions and RFIs
* Developing standard shed models and details

Fabrication & Transport Equipment

Using Autodesk Fusion 360, you may also work on:

* Trailer components
* Tipper bodies
* Truck and transport equipment
* Chassis components
* Brackets, mounts and fabricated assemblies
* Sheet metal components
* Folded and pressed parts
* CNC plasma/laser-cut components
* 3D fabrication models
* Workshop drawings
* Exploded assembly drawings
* DXF files for CNC cutting
* BOMs and cut lists

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

* Strong structural steel detailing experience
* Strong 3D CAD capability
* Ability to read engineering and fabrication drawings
* Understanding of how steel components are actually fabricated and assembled
* Ability to produce clear, accurate workshop drawings
* Good written and spoken English
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to identify problems and raise RFIs instead of making assumptions

Highly Desirable:

* Tekla Structures
* Autodesk Fusion 360
* AutoCAD
* Australian structural steel experience
* Australian steel sections and fabrication practices
* Trailer or transport equipment design/drafting experience
* Sheet metal modelling
* CNC plasma/laser cutting
* DXF/NC file preparation
* Experience designing components for folding/press brake operations

You do not necessarily need to be an expert in both Tekla and Fusion 360, but strong experience in one and the ability to learn the other quickly is important.

Long-Term Opportunity

We are building our internal drafting and design capability and want someone who can grow with the company.

For the right person, there will be an opportunity to become our Senior Detailer / Drafting Lead and eventually help train and manage additional drafting staff.
