Met Company provides industrial fabrication, structural and miscellaneous steel, welding, modular/container structures, equipment enclosures, manufacturing, installation and field services.
We are seeking a detail-oriented structural engineering professional to provide calculations, design analysis and drawing review for projects requiring specialized structural support.
**Role Overview**
You will work with our Technical Services team to translate project requirements into practical structural solutions that support safe, efficient fabrication and installation.
Projects may include structural steel assemblies, equipment supports, platforms, modular/container structures and power-distribution enclosures. You will coordinate with estimating, CAD/design personnel, other engineering specialists and Houston production staff.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Structural Design & Analysis**
- Perform structural calculations and analysis for assigned projects.
- Evaluate applicable loads, load combinations, member sizes, connections, stability and deflection.
- Review steel framing, equipment supports, modular structures and related assemblies.
- Assess lifting, transportation and installation conditions when included in the project scope.
- Use structural analysis software and finite element analysis where appropriate.
- Prepare clear calculation packages documenting assumptions, inputs and conclusions.
**Drawing Review & Fabrication Support**
- Review fabrication and shop drawings for structural issues and consistency with design requirements.
- Provide connection details, technical markups and design criteria to CAD personnel.
- Identify missing information, scope gaps and conflicts before production.
- Recommend practical improvements that consider material availability, fabrication methods and installation constraints.
- Support constructability reviews with the Director of Technical Services and Production Manager.
**Project Coordination**
- Respond to assigned technical questions, RFIs and submittal comments.
- Coordinate structural requirements with architectural, electrical, mechanical and other engineering disciplines.
- Work with onsite personnel to clarify field measurements and existing conditions.
- Review proposed revisions or substitutions for structural implications.
- Maintain organized calculations, drawing revisions and technical correspondence.
- Flag unresolved engineering issues promptly to Technical Services leadership.
**Codes, Specifications & Quality**
- Identify applicable project codes, standards and customer specifications.
- Apply relevant structural requirements and document the basis of design.
- Coordinate with appropriately licensed engineers for work requiring professional review, signatures or seals.
- Support resolution of fabrication or installation discrepancies through documented engineering review.
- Check calculations and deliverables before submission.
**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
- At least three years of relevant structural design or analysis experience.
- Demonstrated experience with structural steel members and connections.
- Familiarity with fabrication drawings, welding details and constructability.
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, RAM or comparable tools.
- Ability to review drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, PDF markup software or comparable systems.
- Working knowledge of relevant AISC, ASCE and building-code requirements.
- Strong written English and ability to explain technical findings clearly.
- Ability to work independently within an assigned scope and meet agreed deadlines.
- Reliable internet connection and availability for agreed coordination with the Houston team.
**Preferred Experience**
- Modular/container buildings, equipment enclosures or power-distribution centers.
- Industrial platforms, equipment frames, miscellaneous steel or manufacturing facilities.
- Steel connection design and fabrication-focused detailing.
- Coordination with U.S. engineering, fabrication or construction teams.
- Experience supporting lifting, transportation and installation analysis.
- Relevant professional registration or licensure.
**Professional Responsibility**
Applicants should state their professional registrations and licensing jurisdictions. Work requiring a professional signature or seal must be completed by an appropriately licensed professional for the project jurisdiction. This support role does not independently authorize sealed deliverables.
**What Success Looks Like**
- Calculations and reviews are accurate, clearly documented and delivered on time.
- Structural issues are identified and resolved before fabrication.
- Technical recommendations are practical for shop production and field installation.
- Drawing revisions and engineering decisions remain traceable.
- Coordination with CAD, estimating and production teams is clear and responsive.
**How to Apply**
Please submit your résumé and brief answers covering:
1. Your experience with structural steel, connections and fabrication drawing review.
2. Any modular/container, equipment-support or enclosure projects you have completed.
3. The structural analysis and drawing software you use.
4. Your professional registrations and licensing jurisdictions, if applicable.
5. Your availability, earliest start date and expected hourly or project-based compensation.
Please include a nonconfidential or redacted sample of a calculation package or technical drawing review that demonstrates your own work.
Use **“Met Structural Engineering Support”** as your application subject line.
