Structural Engineer (Virtual Assistant) – Modular & Steel Construction

Full-Time | Remote | Australian Company

BB Building Services & Rapid Modular Homes are growing, and we’re looking for a highly capable Structural Engineer (Remote / VA) to join our team long-term.

We design and build modular homes, sheds, and steel structures across regional NSW, Australia. We are building repeatable systems — not one-off guesswork — and we need an engineer who can design properly, think critically, and work closely with our estimator and draftsman.

This is a serious role with long-term opportunity.

???? Your Role

You will:

Design structural steel systems for modular buildings

Perform structural calculations (wind, loads, lifting, transport etc.)

Prepare full calculation reports

Review and improve shop drawings

Design footings and slab systems

Work closely with our draftsman and estimator

Prepare complete engineering packages ready for Australian certification review

Help us refine and standardise our modular system

You will not be certifying projects (Australian engineers will do final sign-off), but your work must be accurate and certifiable.

???? Required Experience

You must have:

5+ years structural engineering experience

Strong steel design experience

Experience with portal frames / light gauge steel

Experience designing for wind loads

Experience preparing structural calculation reports

Proficiency in ETABS, STAAD, SAP2000, Tekla, or similar

Strong English communication skills

Bonus points if you have:

Modular / prefabricated construction experience

Experience working with Australian or international codes

Experience designing transportable structures

Experience or willingness to work within:

AS 4100 – Steel Structures

AS/NZS 1170 – Structural Design Actions

AS 3600 – Concrete Structures

NCC (National Construction Code)
