JOB OVERVIEW

Structural / Architectural Draftsman – Remote

Company: Vanguard Engineering
Location: Remote – Philippines
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: 8 am to 5 pm PST with half hour or hour lunch but must be able to communicate during agreed working hours
Compensation: Based on experience and skill level

Vanguard Engineering is looking for a remote Structural / Architectural Draftsman based in the Philippines to assist with residential and light commercial drafting work. The work will include structural plans, architectural plans, construction details, and permit submittal drawings.

The ideal candidate should have experience preparing clear, organized construction documents from engineer markups, sketches, existing plans, photos, and written instructions.

Responsibilities

Prepare and revise drawings including:

• Roof framing plans
• Foundation plans
• Structural floor framing plans
• Structural details
• Structural sections
• Beam, post, footing, and connection details
• Shear wall plans
• Roof plans
• Site plans
• Exterior elevations
• Basic architectural floor plans
• Existing and proposed plans
• Plan check correction revisions

Required Experience

Applicants should have experience with:

• AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software
• Residential wood framing
• Structural drafting
• Architectural drafting
• Reading existing construction plans
• Preparing permit-ready drawing sheets
• Drafting from sketches, redlines, photos, and field notes
• Organizing drawings clearly and accurately

Preferred Experience

Experience with California or U.S. building plans is preferred but not required.

Experience with the following is a plus:

• Residential remodels and additions
• Light commercial tenant improvements
• Foundation repairs
• Retaining walls
• Shear wall layouts
• Roof framing
• Plan check corrections
• Cloud-based file sharing such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is accurate, responsive, and able to follow drafting standards. The draftsman should be able to take engineering direction and turn it into clean, readable drawings.

This position requires more than simply tracing lines. The right candidate should understand basic building layout, framing, sections, and construction documents.
