Steel Fabrication Estimator — Remote (US Projects)
Location: Remote
Schedule: US business hours (night shift if based in Philippines/Asia)
Compensation: $900–$1,100/month USD, full-time salary
Start: Immediately
About the Role
We're hiring a steel fabrication estimator to run the full bid cycle for a US-based metal fabrication shop. This is not just a takeoff role — you will own the entire process from receiving plans to closing awarded work.
You will be the primary point of contact with US general contractors. You need to communicate professionally, respond quickly, and represent the shop as if you were sitting in the front office.
What You'll Do
Review incoming bid invitations and construction documents
Perform quantity takeoffs for structural steel, misc metals, handrails, stairs, railings, balconies, and similar
Prepare material and labor cost estimates
Build and submit complete bid packages
Communicate directly with general contractors — RFIs, clarifications, scope questions, and follow-up
Track active bids, awarded jobs, and pipeline
Follow up on submitted bids to maximize close rate
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of US steel fabrication estimating experience — this is non-negotiable. We cannot train you on US pricing, standards, or GC communication. You must already know how this works.
Proficiency in PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar takeoff software — you must have your own licensed software or be willing to provide your own
Experience with structural steel AND miscellaneous metals (not just one)
Professional spoken and written English — you will
Ability to work during US business hours
Reliable internet and a quiet workspace for calls
Nice to Have
FabSuite or Tekla experience
Experience working directly with a fabrication shop (not just a detailing or BIM firm)
Familiarity with AISC standards
Experience managing or mentoring other estimators
How to Apply
Send a sample takeoff or estimate you've completed for a US steel project. This is required — applications without a work sample will not be reviewed.
A BOQ, PlanSwift/Bluebeam takeoff, pricing sheet, or bid package all work. You may redact client names if needed.
Tell us:
How many years of US steel estimating experience you have
What software you use

Your availability to start
We review samples first, resumes second. Show us what you can do.
