We are looking for an exceptionally versatile, technically minded person to join our team.
This is not a traditional virtual assistant role, and it is not purely a developer role. We are looking for someone who can operate across product, engineering, client operations, data analysis, QA, and general technical problem-solving.
The ideal candidate has a strong technical background and knows how to code, but also has excellent business judgment, analytical ability, communication skills, and the flexibility to work on a very wide variety of projects.
You should be the type of person who enjoys being given a problem, figuring out how everything works, and finding the best way to solve it, even when there is no step-by-step process already written for you.
What your job will involve:
1. Building software and internal tools. You will sometimes develop new functionality yourself, including working with AI coding tools such as Claude Code and Codex.
2. Product development and brainstorming. Help us think through new product functionality, identify edge cases, determine how features should work, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
3. Client technical setup. Configure new clients across our platforms, understand their websites and technology stacks, analyze their products and businesses, and make sure everything is implemented correctly.
4. Technical troubleshooting. Investigate issues, determine why something is not working, and either fix the problem yourself or clearly communicate the issue to our engineering team.
5. QA and bug testing. Thoroughly test new functionality, identify bugs and edge cases, reproduce issues, and help make sure our products work correctly before and after launch.
6. APIs, integrations, and technical configuration. Work with APIs, webhooks, tracking scripts, integrations, platform settings, data feeds, and similar technical systems.
7. Website and platform work. Handle tasks involving platforms such as Shopify, WordPress, Webflow, analytics tools, and other SaaS products.
8. Data and business analysis. Analyze information, spreadsheets, customer data, and product performance to help us answer questions and make better decisions.
9. Research and problem-solving. Quickly learn unfamiliar technologies, investigate technical questions, and independently determine how to accomplish things we have never done before.
10. General technical operations. Help wherever needed. Some projects will be sophisticated and highly technical. Others may be relatively simple administrative or operational tasks that simply need to get done correctly.
What we are looking for:
-Meaningful programming and development experience. You do not need to be a senior software engineer, but you should be comfortable writing, reading, and understanding code.
-Strong understanding of how web applications and websites work.
-Comfortable learning and working with APIs, integrations, JSON, webhooks, tracking scripts, and unfamiliar technical systems.
-Experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools is a major plus.
-Comfortable troubleshooting technical problems independently.
-Experience with Git and GitHub is strongly preferred.
-A Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related technical background is preferred, but demonstrated ability matters more than a specific degree.
-Strong business judgment. You should understand that the goal is not simply to make something technically work, but to understand why we are building it and what business outcome we are trying to achieve.
-Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.
-Ability to take a complicated or ambiguous problem and break it into smaller pieces.
-Comfortable working with data and spreadsheets.
-Experience with eCommerce, particularly Shopify, is a major plus.
-Familiarity with metrics such as AOV, ROAS, CTR, CVR, and LTV, as well as eCommerce funnels such as Product View, Add to Cart, Checkout, and Purchase, is helpful.
-Fully fluent spoken and written English is required.
-Able to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical people.
-Strong written communication and documentation skills.
-Comfortable communicating directly with clients when necessary.
-The type of person who will succeed in this role:
-You are extremely resourceful. When you encounter something you do not know, your first instinct is to research it, experiment, and figure it out.
-You are a strong problem solver. You enjoy investigating why something is happening rather than simply escalating every problem to someone else.
-You are highly detail-oriented. Small technical details matter, and you naturally notice when something looks wrong.
-You are comfortable with ambiguity. Many projects will begin with an objective rather than detailed instructions.
-You are extremely versatile. You might spend part of the day debugging software, part configuring a client account, part testing a new product feature, and part analyzing a spreadsheet.
-You have no ego about the work. You are equally willing to work on an important new product feature or complete a straightforward administrative task that needs to get done.
-You are proactive. We value people who identify problems and opportunities without waiting to be told exactly what to do.
-You are reliable and organized. You can manage multiple projects, communicate status clearly, and follow through.
-You are curious and genuinely enjoy learning new tools, technologies, and systems.
Requirements:
-Excellent spoken and written English
-Strong and reliable internet connection
-Reliable modern computer
-Significant overlap with U.S. Eastern Time working hours
-Prior professional experience in a technical role
-Ability to demonstrate actual programming ability
Nice to have:
-Shopify experience
-SaaS experience
-eCommerce experience
-Startup experience
-Product management or product development experience
-Business intelligence or analytics experience
-Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills
-Experience working directly with U.S.-based companies or clients
Most important:
-We care much more about how you think and what you can do than the exact titles you have held.
-The ideal person for this position might have previously worked as a developer, technical analyst, technical product specialist, solutions engineer, product owner, business systems analyst, business analyst, or in another hybrid technical and business role.
-If you are someone who can code, analyze, troubleshoot, communicate, understand the business objective, and figure things out independently, we want to hear from you.
