Hiring: Social Media Editor
We’re looking for a creative, fast, detail-oriented Social Media Editor who understands short-form content strategy, not just editing. You should know how to create scroll-stopping hooks, optimize for retention, and edit in a way that feels premium, modern, and on-brand. Experience with Instagram Reels and TikTok is required. Bonus if you understand personal brands and founder-led content.
Social Media Editor – Skills & Qualities We’re Looking For
1. Core Technical Skills (Non-Negotiables)
Proficient in CapCut, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, or similar editing software
Strong understanding of Reels
Create clean, on-brand carousel posts
Add captions, hooks, and text overlays to videos
Format content for Stories
Maintain a cohesive Instagram aesthetic
Repurpose existing content into engaging posts
Can export properly for Instagram (no cropping mistakes, correct resolution)
Can edit Instagram Reels with:
Captions/subtitles
Dynamic text overlays
Jump cuts
Smooth transitions
Trending sounds
Can create:
Branded carousel slides
Promo graphics
Strong eye for layout, spacing, and typography
Knows:
Hook timing (first 1–3 seconds)
Video pacing
Retention editing techniques
2. Platform Knowledge (VERY Important)
We need someone who:
Understands Instagram algorithm basics
Knows what makes people stop scrolling
Studies viral formats and trends
Familiar with trends (without overdoing trends)
Understands:
Hook structure
Pattern interrupts
POV style videos
Carousel formatting
Can suggest trends — not just wait for instructions
This is not just a “video cutter.”
This is a content optimizer.
3. Creative & Strategic Thinking
We want someone who:
Understands branding and tone (bold, witty, confident, self-aware, sassy)
Can suggest better hooks
Knows when something feels “weak”
Has a good eye for clean, premium visuals
Bonus if they:
Understand storytelling
Think in campaigns, not single posts
Can repurpose long-form into short-form clips
