Drax Social is a US-based full-service short form video marketing agency. We handle strategy, production, shooting, editing, and social media management for our brand clients. We're looking for a short form video editor who lives and breathes internet culture.
READ THIS FIRST. This is not a podcast editing role. This is not a talking-head role. If that's your background, this isn't the fit. We need someone who understands trends, memes, comedic timing, and how to make content that actually performs on TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. This is non-negotiable.
You must also work full-time, 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday, on US Pacific (PST) hours. This is non-negotiable. We need a daytime editor on our schedule.
One more non-negotiable: NO SPELLING MISTAKES. If we see a single spelling error in your application, captions, or graphics, it's an automatic no. Attention to detail is everything in this role.
Who you are:
You're chronically online in the best way. You get memes, jokes, timing, and trends before they peak.
You understand comedic timing and know how to cut for a laugh, a pause, or a punchline.
You can take old footage and reformat it into a new trend because you understand why the trend works.
You adapt your editing style to different clients. We have a range, and you need to read the brief and match the vibe.
What you'll edit:
Short form content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
Man-on-the-street (MOTS) style videos
Trend-based content and meme formats
B-roll driven pieces
Recipe and product videos
Mostly iPhone footage, with occasional camera footage
What you need to know:
Premiere Pro and/or After Effects
Graphics, motion graphics, animation, and special effects when a project calls for it
Clean captions and text with perfect spelling and good timing
How to match pacing and style to the platform and the client
Style references (this is the kind of content we make):
MOTS:
Trends:
B-roll:
Recipe videos:
Watch these before applying. If this style excites you, you're probably a fit. If it doesn't, you probably aren't.
HOW TO APPLY:
Read carefully, this is how we filter for people who actually pay attention.
Start your message with the word "PUNCHLINE" as the very first word. Applications that don't start with this word will be deleted without being read.
Then send:
A portfolio or resume with a FEW relevant links to short form work you've edited (trends, memes, MOTS, comedy, product, or recipe content). Do NOT send us a giant folder or 500 Google Drive links. Send 3 to 5 of your best, most relevant pieces that match what we do.
Answers to these questions:
1. Why are you the right editor for THIS kind of content? Be specific about your relationship to trends and comedic timing.
2. How long have you been editing short form video?
3. What's your overall editing experience? Walk us through your background.
4. Who have you edited for? List any creators, brands, or companies you've worked with that are relevant to the trend, meme, comedy, or short form style we do.
5. Confirm you can work full-time, 8 hours a day, Monday to Friday, on US Pacific (PST) hours. What time would that be for you locally?
6, Are you open to doing a short test edit as part of the hiring process? (Yes/No)
Only complete applications that start with "PUNCHLINE," include relevant portfolio links, and answer all questions will be considered.
