JOB OVERVIEW

ABOUT ME

I run an ecommerce business and I post about it on Instagram — building the company, training and the gym, and life in Barcelona. The point of the page is to show people what's actually possible when you commit to something, and to be a real example of it rather than a highlight reel.

My Instagram handle is jaspar_s — look me up before you apply, so you know what you'd be working on.

I started a few months ago and the account is at around 5,000 followers and growing. I film everything myself, every day. The problem is that I no longer have the time to edit it, and half of what I shoot never gets posted. That's the job.

THE WORK

- I drop raw footage into a shared Google Drive folder — clips from my day, gym sessions, and takes of me talking to camera
- You cut them into finished vertical videos for Instagram Reels
- You choose the music and cut to it
- You add captions and on-screen text where it actually helps, not everywhere
- You find the odd extra shot when a video needs one — a scene-setter to open on, a transition
- You drop the finished MP4s back into the same folder
- Around 4-6 videos a week to start, more as we get into a rhythm

To be clear about what this is not: you don't manage my Instagram, you don't post, you don't reply to comments, and you don't need a content strategy. I do all of that. You edit.

THREE KINDS OF VIDEO YOU'LL BE CUTTING

1. Me talking to camera — about business, ecommerce, discipline, training. Long rambling takes that need to become 30-45 tight seconds. Cutting the dead air without it feeling choppy is the skill here.

2. Day in the life — b-roll of the day: working, travelling, walking through the city, coffee, gym, whatever I shot. Little or no dialogue. This one lives or dies on pacing and music.

3. Training and gym — rhythm and energy, music-led.

YOU'RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU

- Edit short-form vertical content regularly, and your portfolio shows it
- Have genuine taste in music and know how to cut on the beat — this is the single thing I care most about
- Can take a four-minute talking take and make it 40 seconds that hold attention
- Bring your own ideas. I'll give you footage and a direction, not a shot list. If you see a better way to build the video, I want you to take it.
- Can hold a consistent look week after week, so the page has a style instead of looking like ten different editors
- Turn a video around in 24-48 hours
- Write clear, natural English and are easy to reach
- Are reliable. Consistency beats brilliance here — I'd rather have good videos every week than great ones sometimes.

NICE TO HAVE

- You actually watch this kind of content — fitness, business, lifestyle creators — and have opinions about who's good
- Comfortable in CapCut, Premiere Pro or After Effects
- You can do a clean auto-caption pass and style it well
- You know where to find good stock b-roll when a video needs a shot I didn't film
- Some sense of colour grading — I want the videos to feel warm and cinematic, not flat phone footage

COMPENSATION

Competitive, based on experience — we'll discuss it on the call. Part-time to start, and I'd rather build this into something long-term with one person than rotate through freelancers.

TO APPLY — READ THIS PART CAREFULLY

There's a short test, and I only read applications that include it. I know that's real work. I'd rather see one video you cut than a list of software you own.

Step 1 — Put the word BARCELONA at the very top of your application, so I know you read this.

Step 2 — Get the footage. OnlineJobs removes links from job posts, so you'll have to type this one in yourself. Go to drive dot google dot com and add this to the end of the address:

/drive/folders/1XBR6FxSO5MasxMwHWYHkXYm7kibUVOuG

Inside you'll find the raw clips and a short brief. Read the brief first — it has the two videos I'm using as inspiration.

Step 3 — Cut one video. One finished Instagram Reel from that footage. Vertical, 1080 x 1920, between 20 and 45 seconds, with music.

You don't have to use every clip — use what works. You're also welcome to add an outside shot if the video needs one, like something to open on. Beyond that the creative call is yours, and that's the point of the test: I want to see your ideas, not just your software skills.

Step 4 — Send me:

- The finished video as an MP4
- Two or three sentences on why you cut it that way: the track you chose and why, what you left out, and which shots (if any) aren't from my footage
- A link to your portfolio or recent short-form work
- How long it took you

Send it as one link — Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer.

Applications without the video are not read. If something in the brief is unclear, ask me before you start — a question costs nothing.
