About us: We run several fast-growing Instagram accounts for a fitness and lifestyle creator. Together they get millions of reel views a month. We already have a team of editors for volume. This hire is for taste: someone who knows meme culture and spots new formats before they peak.
What you'll do:
- Turn raw footage of the creator into Reels and Trial Reels that feel native to US internet culture
- Spot trends, sounds and meme formats early and adapt them before they peak
- Write short, punchy on-screen captions and hooks in natural American English (POV, ironic, absurdist, relatable)
- Make new formats for the other editors to copy, and give feedback on their edits
- Edit in CapCut (or better)
You're a fit if:
- You're chronically online. You know what's funny on TikTok,
- You understand American humor, irony and slang, and your captions don't read as translated
- You have an eye for pacing, first-second hooks and music choice
- You're comfortable working with a lifestyle creator's content (fitness, fashion, swimwear)
- You have a stable internet connection
Nice to have:
- Clean face and skin retouching without default presets
Pay and benefits:
- Starts at $700/mo, up to $950/mo after 30 days based on performance
- Bi-weekly payment
- Flexible schedule: work whenever you want, as long as it's done on time with 40 hours a week
- Flexible time off if requested
APPLICATION TEST (required, about 15 minutes)
Part 1 - Rank these 5 reels from most viral to least viral, based on how you think a US audience reacted:
Reel A:
Reel B:
Reel C:
Reel D:
Reel E:
Write your ranking as letters from best to worst (for example: C, A, E, B, D), with one sentence for each on why you put it there. There's a right answer, since we know how each one performed. Your reasoning counts as much as the order.
Part 2 - Send us 3 memes you find funny right now that would be good references for this creator. Send links (TikTok, Instagram, X or YouTube) to memes posted in the last 30 days. For each one, write one sentence on how you'd adapt it for a fitness and lifestyle creator.
HOW TO APPLY
1. The first line of your message must be MEME LORD (putting it only in the subject line doesn't count)
2. Send 5+ links to short-form videos you made. Public TikTok or Instagram links are best. If you send Drive files, add a screenshot of the views or insights
3. Put your answers to Parts 1 and 2 in the message itself
We don't review applications that skip any of these steps.
NEXT STEP: We'll invite the top 3-5 applicants to a short paid trial (about 1 hour, paid even if we don't hire you): write caption and hook options for 2 of our raw clips and edit one into a meme format.
