We are hiring a full-time video editor to join our team and become the primary editor for our growing veterans/military content brand.
This is not a one-time freelance project.
We already have a large backlog of podcast footage ready to edit, and we are building a much bigger organic content operation around:
Instagram Reels
TikTok
YouTube Shorts
Podcast clips
Talking-head educational content
Eventually long-form YouTube
We are looking for someone who wants a stable, long-term editing position and can grow with us.
If you're looking to squeeze another small client into an already packed freelance schedule, this probably isn't the right fit.
If you're looking for a full-time editing role where you can become deeply familiar with one brand, improve the content over time, and take real ownership of the editing process, keep reading.

The Content
We create educational content in the U.S. veterans/military space.
Our current priority is a two-camera podcast project that should produce approximately 40+ short-form videos.
Most finished videos will be around:
60–120 seconds
Some answers may be turned into multiple clips.
After this backlog is complete, there will be continued short-form content, additional podcast recordings, talking-head content, and eventually long-form YouTube.
We are not hiring for 40 videos.
We are hiring an editor we want to keep.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What You'll Be Editing
The current podcast setup has:
One interviewer asking the questions
One primary speaker answering
Two separate camera angles
Educational / conversational content
Longer answers that need to be turned into strong short-form clips
The content has already been organized to make the editing process easier.
The raw footage includes large 4K files, so you need a computer, internet connection, and storage setup capable of handling them comfortably.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Editing Style
We want the videos to feel:
Clean. Modern. Professional. Engaging.
We are NOT looking for videos with random graphics, animations, and effects every two seconds.
The audience is veterans and military members, so the content needs to feel credible and easy to watch.
You should be comfortable with:
Clean captions/subtitles
Removing unnecessary pauses and dead space
Punch-ins and zooms
Speaker changes
Full-screen speaker shots
Stacked or split-screen podcast layouts
Relevant B-roll and images
Simple graphics when useful
Visual hooks
Sound effects when appropriate
Pattern interrupts
Strong pacing
Making educational talking-head content hold attention
The biggest skill we care about is editing judgment.
You need to know when something improves the video and when adding more simply makes it worse.
We will provide reference videos so you understand the direction.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Podcast / Talking-Head Experience Strongly Preferred
We strongly prefer editors who have previously worked with:
Podcasts
Interviews
Personal brands
Coaches/consultants
Educational creators
Talking-head content
Business content
We specifically want to see actual videos you have edited.
Do not send us only a flashy 30-second showreel.
We want to watch the real content.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This Is a Full-Time Role
We are looking for someone available approximately:
- 40 hours per week
We want this to become your primary editing position.
We understand that some editors may still have a small side client or occasional project.
That is fine.
What we do NOT want is someone who already has:
- A full-time job
- Several demanding clients
- An agency workload
- 100+ other videos to edit every month
...and is trying to fit us into whatever time is left over.
We have already dealt with delays and need someone who has the actual capacity to prioritize this role.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What We're Looking For
The right person is:
- A strong video editor
- Reliable
- Fast without sacrificing quality
- Good at following references
- Comfortable receiving feedback
- Organized
- Communicative
- Able to meet deadlines
- Interested in improving over time
- Able to work independently once the style is established
- Interested in being part of something long-term
We do not expect perfection on day one.
We do expect you to communicate, improve quickly, and do what you say you're going to do.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Technical Requirements
You should have:
A computer capable of editing large 4K files
Reliable high-speed internet
Enough storage for large video projects
Experience working with multi-camera footage
Strong spoken-English comprehension
Strong captioning accuracy
A professional editing workflow
Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut, CapCut Desktop, or another professional editing setup can work.
The finished product matters more than the software.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Immediate Start
We are already behind schedule and need someone who can start ASAP.
The first step will be creating approximately 2 initial videos so we can finalize the editing style together.
Then we will move into the larger backlog.
For the first 5–10 videos, we may test a few different layouts and editing approaches.
Once we determine what works best, we want to build a repeatable system so production becomes faster and easier.

How to Apply - Loom recording is preferred
Start your application with:
MILITARY PODCAST
If those words are not at the beginning of your application, we will assume you did not read the post.
Then answer these questions:
(1) Send 2–3 direct links to podcast, interview, talking-head, or educational videos you personally edited. Please do not send only a showreel.
(2) What is your current workload? Tell us if you have another full-time job, how many clients you currently work with, and roughly how many videos you edit per week.
(3) If hired full-time, would this become your primary job? If you plan to keep other work, explain what you would continue doing
(4) In a 40-hour week, how many high-quality 60–120 second podcast clips could you realistically complete?
(5) If we sent you the first footage today, what exact day could you return the first rough draft?
(6) Can your setup comfortably handle multi-camera 4K footage with individual files around 10–20GB? Tell us what editing software you use.
(7) What monthly salary are you looking for for a full-time role?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please Do Not Apply If
- You cannot start soon
- You already have a full-time job you plan to keep
- Your current client workload is already heavy
- You cannot comfortably handle large 4K files
- You cannot show relevant work
- You plan to outsource the editing without telling us
- You regularly miss deadlines
- You disappear when projects get difficult
- You only have gaming, meme, wedding, or montage editing examples
-You are sending a generic application without reading the post
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What This Can Become
We're still early in building this content operation.
That means the person who joins now has the opportunity to become the editor who understands the brand better than anyone else.
Over time, the role may expand beyond simply receiving footage and cutting clips.
There may be opportunities to help with:
Editing systems
Content organization
Long-form YouTube
Thumbnail/creative collaboration
Testing new short-form styles
Identifying strong moments from longer recordings
Improving retention
Helping us build a repeatable content machine
We are looking for someone who wants to become part of the team, not just someone who wants another editing gig.
If you're talented, dependable, hungry to improve, and looking for a long-term full-time editing role, we want to see your work.
