JOB OVERVIEW

We are a growing Canadian outdoor eyewear brand looking for a capable, resourceful, and detail-oriented Shopify Website & Development Assistant.

This role is for someone who can confidently work inside Shopify, make visual and written website updates, troubleshoot problems, and use AI tools to work more efficiently.

You do not need to know everything fro ---------- mory. We are looking for someone who knows how to research, test, use AI responsibly, and find solutions without breaking the website.

The work may include simple content updates one day and more technical Shopify development tasks the next.

Responsibilities
Shopify Website Management
Add and update products in Shopify
Upload and organize product images
Update product titles, descriptions, pricing, variants, tags, and collections
Build and edit website pages
Update navigation menus, banners, announcements, and homepage sections
Add or update promotions, discount messaging, and campaign content
Review website pages for errors, broken links, and outdated information
Make sure the website works properly on desktop and mobile
Test changes before and after publishing
Image Editing and Content Uploads
Resize, crop, compress, and optimize images for the website
Remove or replace image backgrounds when required
Create simple website graphics and banners
Maintain consistent image sizing and presentation
Rename and organize files properly
Upload images without slowing down website performance
Use tools such as Canva, Photoshop, or AI image-editing platforms
Website Copy and Content
Make edits to product descriptions and website copy
Improve grammar, clarity, formatting, and readability
Update promotional messaging throughout the website
Help write landing pages, collection descriptions, FAQs, and basic blog content
Use AI to create drafts while making sure the final writing sounds natural and matches our brand
Proofread all copy before publishing
Avoid publishing incorrect, exaggerated, or unverified claims
Shopify Development and Coding
Make edits to Shopify themes
Work with Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Adjust website layouts, styling, spacing, buttons, sections, and mobile responsiveness
Create or modify Shopify theme sections and blocks
Troubleshoot theme issues and website errors
Install and configure Shopify apps when approved
Remove unnecessary code or apps when instructed
Use Shopify metafields and metaobjects when needed
Make backups or duplicate the theme before major changes
Avoid editing the live theme without proper testing
Clearly document any custom code or major changes
AI-Assisted Work

We encourage the responsible use of AI tools.

You may use AI to help with:

Writing and troubleshooting code
Reviewing Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Drafting product descriptions and website copy
Brainstorming page layouts and improvements
Diagnosing website errors
Creating instructions or documentation
Editing and optimizing images

However, you must understand and test anything created with AI before publishing it.

Copying AI-generated code directly into the live website without reviewing or testing it is not acceptable.

Daily Tasks:
Website Quality and Organization
Keep track of requested website changes
Document what was changed and where
Report completed tasks clearly
Identify anything that still needs approval or testing
Flag website issues before they become larger problems
Maintain consistent formatting throughout the website
Work from a task list and provide updates on progress
Ask questions when instructions are unclear instead of guessing

Who We’re Looking For:
Experience working with Shopify
Comfortable editing Shopify themes
Working knowledge of Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Strong attention to detail
Good written English
Comfortable editing website copy
Experience uploading and optimizing images
Able to use AI tools effectively
Able to troubleshoot and research solutions independently
Understands the importance of testing and website backups
Organized and able to manage multiple small tasks
Willing to follow our brand guidelines and approval process
Able to explain technical issues in simple language
Does not make unapproved changes to the live website

Experience with Shopify 2.0 themes, metafields, metaobjects, Canva, Photoshop, GitHub, PageFly, Replo, Klaviyo, or SEO is an advantage.

Examples of Tasks

Tasks may include:

Uploading new product photos
Compressing images for faster page speed
Updating product descriptions
Fixing spacing on a mobile product page
Creating a new homepage banner
Adding a custom section to a Shopify theme
Updating a promotional landing page
Troubleshooting a broken button
Changing website colours, fonts, or layouts
Creating a comparison chart
Adding a new FAQ section
Fixing incorrect product information
Adding metafields to product pages
Improving website navigation
Installing or configuring an approved Shopify app
Using AI to help write and test custom code
Reviewing the website for anything outdated, broken, or confusing

What Success Looks Like:
Website updates are completed accurately
Changes work properly on desktop and mobile
Images look professional and load efficiently
Website copy is clear, natural, and consistent
Custom code is tested before being published
Website changes do not create new problems
Tasks are documented and communicated clearly
You can independently solve straightforward problems
You know when a task requires approval or additional help
AI helps improve your work rather than replacing your judgment

A Shopify product page looks correct on desktop, but the product title overlaps the image on mobile.

In no more than five sentences, explain:

How you would test the fix
What you would do before editing the live theme
