About Us
Local Marketing Audit is a U.S.-based marketing agency helping brands grow through strategy, design, and performance-driven execution. Our clients range from emerging DTC labels to established retailers, and ecommerce is one of the fastest-growing parts of our business. We're hiring a Shopify Developer to own that work end to end.
The Role
You'll build, launch, and maintain Shopify stores for our clients — from new builds and theme customization to ongoing optimization, app integrations, and performance tuning. This is a hands-on development role with direct client exposure, so we're looking for someone who can write clean code and also explain trade-offs in plain language.
What You'll Do
- Build and launch new Shopify and Shopify Plus stores from concept through go-live
- Customize themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Manage and maintain existing client stores: updates, bug fixes, feature additions
- Integrate third-party apps, payment gateways, shipping tools, and marketing platforms
- Migrate stores from other platforms to Shopify when needed
- Optimize site speed, mobile experience, and conversion-critical page templates
- Set up product catalogs, collections, variants, and inventory structures
- Troubleshoot issues quickly and communicate status clearly to internal teams and clients
- Partner with designers, strategists, and account managers to ship work on schedule
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience building and managing successful Shopify stores — we want to see live sites you've shipped and can speak to
- Strong command of Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Working knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem: apps, APIs, theme architecture, Shopify Plus features
- Experience with store performance optimization and conversion-focused development
- Comfort managing multiple projects and deadlines at once
- Clear written and verbal English communication
Nice to Have
- WordPress development experience, especially WooCommerce store builds and maintenance
- PHP, and familiarity with custom plugin or theme work
- Headless commerce experience (Hydrogen, Next.js)
- Basic familiarity with GA4, Meta Pixel, and conversion tracking setup
- Experience working in an agency environment with multiple concurrent clients
Why Join Us
- Varied, meaningful work across a real portfolio of ecommerce brands
- A collaborative team that values craft and clear communication
- Room to grow into technical leadership as our ecommerce practice expands
How to Apply
Please include the following with your application:
1. Portfolio — links to live Shopify stores you've built or managed, with a short note on your specific role in each
2. CV / resume
3. Monthly salary expectation (in USD)
4. Availability — your earliest possible start date and weekly hours you can commit
Applications without a portfolio won't be reviewed. We read every submission and reply to candidates we'd like to move forward with.
