We are looking for a senior performance marketer to build and manage YouTube/Google Ads lead-generation campaigns for an established Australian investment education business.
This is not an ecommerce ROAS role.
Our funnel is:
YouTube/Google → webinar registration → attendance → engagement → eventual purchase.
That means we care about downstream economics and lead quality, not just cheap clicks or cheap form fills.
We are looking for someone who has personally managed meaningful Google Ads spend and understands YouTube conversion campaigns in depth.
Initial scope
- Google Demand Gen with YouTube channel controls
- YouTube video creative
- image creative within Demand Gen
- Google Search
- custom segments
- Customer Match
- remarketing
- audience testing
- placement analysis
- creative testing
- budget allocation
- GA4/GTM coordination
- enhanced conversions
- GCLID and UTM attribution
- offline conversion feedback
- view-through and engaged-view behaviour
- ongoing reporting and optimisation
We use a CRM and track leads through registration, attendance and eventual purchase.
The first phase is a controlled test with meaningful five-figure monthly media spend. There is scope to scale materially if the economics work.
What the weekly role looks like
Review registrations and downstream lead quality by campaign, audience and creative.
Review search terms, audience segments and placements.
Make appropriate exclusions and budget changes.
Identify creative fatigue and brief new creative.
Work with the video editor and marketing lead to develop new hooks.
Reconcile platform-reported results with CRM results.
Report clearly on what happened, why you think it happened, what you are changing and what you expect to learn.
We want someone who thinks like an investor in media spend rather than someone who merely "optimises campaigns."
You should have
Strong hands-on Google Ads experience.
Direct experience with YouTube/Demand Gen campaigns.
Substantial lead-generation experience.
Experience optimising toward downstream conversions rather than only leads.
Strong conversion tracking knowledge.
Comfort with imperfect attribution and cross-device behaviour.
Excellent analytical ability.
Experience handling meaningful monthly spend.
The ability to explain decisions simply.
Experience in Australia, financial services, education, webinars or higher-ticket acquisition is an advantage.
Meta experience is also useful because this role could eventually cover both Google and Meta.
We do NOT want
Someone whose entire solution is Performance Max.
Someone who mainly runs ecommerce Shopping campaigns.
Someone who reports impressions, CTR and CPL without understanding what happened after the lead.
Someone who outsources the actual account work to an undisclosed junior.
In your application, answer the following
1. How much monthly Google Ads spend have you personally managed?
2. What percentage was lead generation rather than ecommerce?
3. Describe your most successful YouTube/Demand Gen lead-generation campaign.
4. What was the offer, spend, CPL and downstream business outcome?
5. Tell us about a campaign that failed and what you changed.
6. How do you handle offline conversions where a lead converts days or weeks later?
7. How would you distinguish poor targeting from poor creative from a poor landing page?
8. When would you use Demand Gen rather than Performance Max?
9. Please provide screenshots or redacted evidence where appropriate.
10. Confirm whether you personally will manage the account.
11. Your hourly rate or preferred monthly retainer.
Hiring process
Shortlisted candidates will be paid to complete an account/measurement review and present their proposed first 30-day plan.
We value clear thinking over a 70-page automated audit.
The successful candidate will initially work approximately 8–12 hours per week, with scope increasing as spend increases.
