JOB OVERVIEW

High Point Financial is a U.S.-based business tax, accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll firm serving small and midsized businesses, with a strong focus on restaurants and hospitality clients.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Bookkeeper who can take ownership of client books with limited day-to-day training. This is a long-term part-time position with the potential to grow into full-time work as our client base expands.

This is not an entry-level data-entry position. We need someone who understands U.S. bookkeeping, can identify problems before they become larger issues, and can produce clean, accurate financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Complete monthly bookkeeping and month-end close procedures in QuickBooks Online
• Categorize and review transactions accurately
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loans, merchant processors, and clearing accounts
• Prepare and review Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable tasks
• Record and reconcile payroll journal entries and payroll liabilities
• Work with restaurant-related transactions, including sales, tips, food costs, merchant fees, delivery platforms, and sales-tax-related accounts
• Reconcile POS and third-party delivery activity, including Clover, Toast, Square, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub
• Identify missing information, duplicate transactions, unusual activity, uncategorized items, and reconciliation discrepancies
• Clearly document questions and issues for the U.S.-based team
• Maintain organized client files and follow established procedures
• Help create and improve bookkeeping procedures as the company grows

Required qualifications:

• At least 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience for U.S.-based clients
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience, including transaction categorization, reconciliations, cleanup work, and month-end close
• Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements
• Experience with restaurant, bar, hospitality, retail, or other high-transaction businesses
• Working knowledge of merchant processing, POS systems, delivery platforms, tips, payroll entries, and sales-tax-related accounts
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Professional written and spoken English
• Reliable computer, stable internet connection, and a dependable work environment
• Ability to handle confidential financial information professionally

Preferred qualifications:

• QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification
• Experience with Clover, Toast, Square, Shogo, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, or similar platforms
• Experience working for a U.S. bookkeeping or accounting firm
• Familiarity with QuickBooks Desktop
• Experience with catch-up bookkeeping or cleanup projects

Schedule and compensation:

• Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week
• Flexible schedule with occasional availability during U.S. Pacific Time business hours
• $950 USD per month, equivalent to approximately $11 per hour at 20 hours per week
• Long-term position with the opportunity for increased hours and full-time work based on performance and company growth
• Shortlisted candidates will complete a paid practical bookkeeping assessment
