We are a small agency, so developers own their work. You will receive the business goal, designs and relevant client context. About the role
This is not a role where every task comes with a detailed technical specification. You should be able to understand the client's goal, inspect the existing store, identify dependencies and risks, propose an approach, and deliver the work without constant supervision.

You must have reliable overlap with Sydney business hours and strong written and spoken English.

What you'll work on

Shopify and Shopify Plus stores
Custom theme development using Liquid, JavaScript, HTML and CSS
Complex theme customisation and reusable sections
Retainer tickets for existing client stores
Checkout, cart, subscription and third-party app integrations
Storefront API, Admin API and webhooks
Performance, accessibility and responsive QA
Debugging production issues across themes, apps and external services
Headless Shopify and Hydrogen projects when appropriate
Technical estimates, implementation notes and handover documentation

What we need

Strong commercial Shopify experience, including complex or enterprise stores
Deep knowledge of Liquid and Shopify theme architecture
Strong JavaScript and modern frontend development skills
Experience with Git, pull requests and code review
Experience integrating external APIs and Shopify apps
Ability to diagnose problems instead of waiting for step-by-step instructions
Good judgement about scope, risk and when to raise a blocker
Clear communication with project managers, designers and other developers
Consistent self-QA before work reaches project management or the client
Experience using AI tools (such as Claude, Cursor or GitHub Copilot) in your development workflow, while still reviewing, testing and owning everything you ship

Highly regarded
Experience with Shopify Plus, Hydrogen, React, TypeScript, Oxygen, Markets, B2B, subscriptions, custom apps or UX/UI design.
