Impress Photography is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Real Estate Photo Editor / Retoucher to join our production team in a full-time, ongoing permanent role.

This is not a short-term contract, casual position or temporary freelance opportunity. We are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term and valued member of the Impress Photography team.

For nearly 15 years, Impress Photography has been one of Melbourne, Australia’s leading photographic studios, specialising in high-end residential and commercial real estate photography, aerial photography and video, hotel and tourism photography, and premium property marketing.

We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work and wants to become an important part of a professional, close-knit Australian production team.

This is not simply a high-volume HDR editing position.

We want an editor with an excellent eye for detail, strong Photoshop and retouching skills, an understanding of premium real estate imagery, and the ability to consistently produce polished, natural and high-end results.
We are also embracing AI throughout our real estate photography production workflow. An important part of this role will involve learning, using and becoming highly proficient with specific AI software designed for real estate photography and image production, alongside Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Firefly and other emerging AI applications.

What You’ll Be Doing:
You will work closely with our Australian production team, editing and retouching professional real estate, commercial, hotel and tourism photography.
Your work may include:
High-end real estate photo editing and retouching
Interior and exterior property photography
HDR and exposure blending
Flambient editing
Window pulls and natural window views
Colour correction and white balance
Perspective and vertical correction
Highlight and shadow recovery
Sky replacement where appropriate
Lawn, garden and exterior enhancements
Object and distraction removal
TV screen and fireplace replacement
Pool and water enhancement
Removing unwanted reflections and colour casts
Advanced Photoshop retouching
Drone and aerial photography editing
Twilight and dusk image enhancement
Image quality control and consistency
Matching the established Impress Photography editing style
Using specialised real estate AI editing software as part of our daily production workflow
Reviewing AI-generated edits and professionally retouching or correcting them where required
Combining traditional Photoshop techniques with AI-assisted workflows to achieve premium results
Helping us test and adopt new AI tools as photographic technology continues to evolve
Adobe, Real Estate AI & Emerging Technology
Technology is becoming an increasingly important part of professional real estate photography production.
We want someone who is technically strong, curious and excited to learn.
A significant part of this position will involve using specific AI software developed for real estate photography. Full training in our preferred systems and workflows can be provided, but you must be comfortable learning new software and adapting as technology changes.

We are not looking for AI to replace good editing.
We are looking for someone who understands great photography and professional retouching first, then knows how to use AI intelligently to achieve better results, greater consistency and more efficient workflows.
Importantly, AI-generated results still need a great human eye.
You will be expected to recognise when an AI edit is excellent — and when it needs additional professional retouching to meet the Impress Photography standard.
What We’re Looking For
Ideally, you will already have several years of professional experience editing and retouching real estate photography.
You should have:
Excellent Adobe Photoshop skills
Strong Adobe Lightroom skills
Professional real estate photo retouching experience
An excellent understanding of colour, exposure and composition
Strong HDR and exposure blending skills
Experience with window pulls
Experience with flambient editing
Strong object removal and retouching skills
Experience editing luxury or high-end property photography
Excellent attention to detail
The ability to produce natural-looking, premium results
Good knowledge of AI editing applications
Experience with Adobe Firefly and Photoshop AI tools
Confidence learning specialised real estate AI software
A genuine interest in emerging AI technology

Excellent Mac or PC workflow skills

Your Eye for Detail Matters
We work with beautiful properties and demanding clients, and small details matter.
We notice things such as:
Incorrect colour casts
Crooked verticals
Overdone HDR
Unnatural skies
Poor window pulls
Inconsistent lighting
Reflections that should have been removed
Distracting objects
Unrealistic AI edits
AI-generated artefacts or errors
Oversaturated grass or skies
Poor masking
Inconsistent editing between images in the same property

AI Knowledge Is Important
Photography production is changing rapidly, and AI is becoming an important part of how we work.
We want someone who is excited by this rather than intimidated by it.
You do not need to know every AI application currently available. What matters is that you have a strong technical foundation, are comfortable learning new software and are interested in finding better ways of producing exceptional imagery.
Part of your ongoing role will be working with specialist real estate AI applications selected by Impress Photography, learning these platforms and incorporating them into our established production workflow.
As new technologies become available, we will continue testing and adopting tools that can improve quality, consistency and efficiency.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can combine photography, Photoshop, retouching, real estate AI and great judgement.
Working With Our Melbourne Team
Impress Photography is based in Hawthorn, Melbourne, Australia.
One of the great advantages of working with a Philippines-based team is the strong timezone overlap between the Philippines and Melbourne.
You will need to be available during agreed working hours that provide good overlap with our Melbourne production team.
Reliable communication throughout your working day is essential.
You will be expected to be available for team communication, feedback, workflow discussions, training and occasional video meetings.
