ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are a busy California personal injury law firm seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to support our litigation team remotely. The ideal candidate has substantial experience working with a California PI law firm, understands U.S. personal injury litigation processes, and can operate with a high degree of independence. This is a remote position supporting our attorneys and requiring a paralegal-level knowledge of a wide range of case management and litigation support tasks.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 5+ years of legal assistant experience supporting a California personal injury law firm — required
• MUST HAVE*** Demonstrated independent, without the need of supervision, ability to draft legal correspondence, discovery, amended ROGS, ROGS, amended FROGS, demand packages, and case summaries independently
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. personal injury litigation processes, California civil procedure, and PI case workflows
• Experience with medical records procurement, lien tracking, and insurance carrier communications
• Proficiency with legal case management software (e.g., Filevine, Clio, MyCase, or similar), Filevine Preferred

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• MUST HAVE** Draft legal documents, including correspondence, discovery requests and responses, demand packages, and case summaries for attorney review
• Coordinate procurement of medical records, bills, and supporting documentation from healthcare providers and third parties
• Assist with lien tracking and communicate with lien holders under attorney supervision
• Prepare detailed medical chronologies, case timelines, and settlement evaluation summaries
• Conduct legal research and prepare written summaries for supervising attorneys
• Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates and gathering information under attorney's direction
• Monitor litigation calendars and deadline tracking systems to ensure no critical dates are missed
• Support deposition and mediation preparation by organizing exhibits, records, and case materials
• Assist in mentoring and coordinating with junior legal assistants on the remote team
• Maintain accurate case notes and activity logs in the firm's case management software
• Independently manage and organize case files from intake through settlement, maintaining detailed case chronologies, deadlines, and task lists
